I have been as much impressed by his leadership skills during games as his footballing ability. Absolutely what we needed.

Nah not true, defensive problems the first half of the season is one of the main reasons we are not challenging for the league. We ****ed up the VVD transfer in the summer and had to wait but that doesn't mean wanting another quality CB in the meanwhile was wrong.

People didn't just want any old CB mate, it didn't happen for us and we had to wait. Several calamities later we finally get our man. **** knows how close we would be to City if we had of landed him in the summer. I think we will go into the market in the summer for another CB.

Not even sure Sami Hyypia had this much of an effect.

He did... Our defence was awful under Evans... James made me **** myself eveytime a cross went into the box

can you imagine someone like Alderwield beside VVD. Add a top keeper to that and it's mouth watering.

I think tactics and the way the team was set up had a big part of it.

The team was built on defensive principles, from the back. It was solid.
