    Hyypia scored 22 league goals for us. I wonder how many were not headers?

    I know pre Premier League, buyt Steve Nicol was calssed as a defender, was he not?


    Can we throw Chris Sutton in there? I imagine the vast majority of those were as a striker. I cant think of too many Centrebacks who converted to strikers later in their career.

    I know Carra coverted from striker in the youth team to midfield to fullback then centreback. His 3 goals in 500 odd games are not worrying VVD though. Makes me wonder how good a striker was he at youth level.

          Yeah... I was very young then, but all I can remember were great finishes with the feet.

            Stevie Nicol was a right back but could fill in in midfield (not that you would). I'm not sure he ever scored with his head, but by god, he scored quite a few. He challenged the strikers for top scorer in one season. Shame he's turned into such a knob.

                  Just looked up the stats and the all time PL leading scorers of headed goal are jointly Crouch and Kane with 40, somewhat surprised that the total was so low and basically just double what VVD has.
                  The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

                          I disagree. He was only 24 when he was moved up front, and he scored 12 in 12 in the run in that season. Then he moved back to defense, sulked, was sold to Blackburn where he played as a midfielder.

                                He moved back to defence because their other striker was fit and they had a defensive crisis, they subsequently lost the final to Arsenal.
