With all the talk of under performing players, Mo, Wirtz, Mac, Grav, Kerkez, Konate etc Virgil has kinda escaped it a wee bit imo. He's been pretty awful & only because Konate is making so many high profile errors.. Virgil has gotten away with it.

VVD has made a load of mistakes this season, he has also been lucky as not many of them led to goals against us so most of his mistakes get forgotten/overlooked.
Think the only kind of obvious ones that led to a goal were the one where he backed off from going to the attacker, then turned his back to the shot so the ball then deflected off him and past Ali, plus the one where he handled the ball in the box to give away the peno.
He has not been as bad as Konate, nowhere close imo, but still not been as good as we know he can be and he seems to be getting rattled a lot more easily by attackers.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Think the difference between VVD and Mo this season is VVD, has had, and probably still has, far more good games in him than Mo had/has.
I have only one really good Mo performance springing to mind for this season and that was the game against Real as he worked his arse off in both directons and looked a threat going forward.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

I keep reading that Szoboszlai is the only one playing well etc, and I'd agree he is doing better than most of the players - much better in some cases -but he is still making costly errors, he is at times just jogging around (see Leeds' second goal for examples of both of those) and he is, in his eagerness to get forward, often in the wrong position or pressing on his own (and thus not co-ordinating with teammates). I don't think anyone is playing anywhere near their peak.

Szoboszlai is, for me, playing at a similar level to last season. The difference this season is he does not have the other midfielders, MacAllister in particular, playing at the same level as they did last season (Though Gravenberch has been decent this season) so any mistake this season by a midfielder does not have an inform other midfielder there to cover for it.
Last season the trio were all on top form for the most part and covering each other's movements and mistakes.
As for nobody close to their peak, I think Alisson has been at his best when he has played. He is nearly always the guy that puts in the same level of performance season after season no matter what the rest of the team are doing in front of him.I don't hate people. Don't think he is. He is still, most of the time, one of the best CBs in the league. It is just that he is no longer the clear best by some distance CB in the division imo.
Is a big part of why imo we need more quality in at CB with one of the new CBs being one that can rotate with VVD.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

So many players have dropped right off this season it’s hard to tell what’s going on. It’s all just a mess right now.
Think a lot of the best reamining players from the Klopp era are having sharp declines after years of hard yards.
Think how the likes of Henderson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum and others seemed to drop off almost overnight.
We may well be seeing the same thing with the likes of Salah, Robertson, VVD and a couple others ( to varying degrees)I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.
