Isn't that kind of the point? It's doesn't feel right to me. There have been lots of people on this site claiming our players should be 'smart' like this, but it isn't nice when other teams do it. I would rather no-one did it.
    Really?

Unfortunately its part of the game, football is inherently dishonest compared to most other sports I follow or have taken part in. Nowhere else is gaming the system so blatantly encouraged and we have been so over exposed to it that it has now been normalized. The reason its so pervasive is quite simple, Money. ****ing lots and lots of money. The entire sport that we love is now lead purely by Money. Fans talk about net spends, or how much money you get in the Champions Lg, or branding deals, tv rights, wage bills, money money money. Because of this and the supposed unearltly sums of money attached to winning a game of football, it attracts douchebags, just like in the Investment Banking world, wall to wall douchebags lead by a world were money is king.
So today we have players who will do just about anything to get an advantage and its applauded, defended and justified when we all know its garbage. We complain when our players kick a ball out for an injured player saying they are too nice, we all roundly me included demand our players harass the officials for every single decision and we all live in a all or nothing Season of 2 games cycles, because there is so much money riding on it.
I thought diving could be dealt with retrospectively? There needs to be a serious conversation about drawing the foul because for me that is just a clever dive, the game is too unbalanced toward attackers and that all got to do with Money, TV companies want Goals and Drama, Its less about two football teams playing and seeing who is the best and more about this weeks installment of Football Drama.
Defenders have the toughest job on the pitch by far these days, they **** up once and they are getting pelters for weeks, attackers can use they body as much as the like to shield gain advantage etc but if a defender even thinks about laying a hand or a shoulder on a attacker, prepare yourself to see said attacker go down arms flailing like they have just taken a spear to the lower back. Its ****ing nonsense.

This is the bull**** grey area. The pass was to him directly... he was in an offside position and he benefited from being in the offside position, which should make it an offside offence....

Somehow they took an already quite convoluted rule and made it even ****ing worse. How about... if you are offside your offside. Nothing ambiguous about that. Either that or make it clear what constitutes an offside offence... Kane only "won" that penalty because he was offside... its ****ing ridiculous.

**** it... I say put Salah in the 6 yard box for whole match and ping balls off the oppositions defenders to get it to him...?

Yeah it's bollocks and needs sorting

How often is a player really offside and truly inactive?

                            Wonder who he's talking about?!

English players may be the "masters" of diving, says Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger

Tottenham's Dele Alli was booked for diving in Sunday's draw at Liverpool.

Team-mate Harry Kane was accused of diving by Reds defender Virgil van Dijk in winning a penalty.

Wenger said: "I remember there were tremendous cases here when foreign players did it, but the English players have learned very quickly and they might even be the masters now."

The Frenchman said in November that Raheem Sterling "dives well" following Arsenal's 3-1 defeat at Manchester City.

Wenger, whose side face Spurs in the Premier League at Wembley on Saturday, said: "I don't tell my players to dive at all. We have to get diving out of the game.

"Sometimes players play a little bit with the rules. How far can you go? That is down to the referees."

On Tuesday Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino said diving was a "minimal issue" in football, and that "tricking" an opponent was now part of the game.

This season the Football Association introduced new regulations to retrospectively ban players who dive.

Very simple to fix with video technology... hopefully we are on the right path.

Look at Rugby Union for instance... for me their whole refereeing and video technology should be the world standard:

The ref is mic'd up so we all know what he is saying and thinking.

The players have to show respect to the ref, can end up with 7 week bans for any swearing or verbal abuse (plus if the ref is mic'd they players have to stop swearing etc)

The ref is not the ****ing be all and end all when it comes to decisions, the video ref can tell him to take a look at things or he can tell the ref what has/hasn't happened or what should/shouldn't happen.

There are always big screens so the crowd can see what they are seeing.

As regards to diving and cheating the ref... if on review the ref and video ref both agree if it is or it inst, then they go with that decision. It is open to interpretation but it will eliminate a lot of diving as players will now it is being reviewed.

Punishment for diving is a yellow. Multiple cautions for yellows over a season/competition warrant a more severe punishment... like 2 yellows for diving = 1 match ban... 3 = 2 match ban etc etc

The diving would soon ****ing stop.

It was a brilliant game, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I thought we played magnificently, considering how Spurs totally wiped the floor with United just the game before this. We dominated them first half, they literally did not get sniff of the ball till 40 minutes in and even then we handled them well. 2nd half really changed when Jordon came off, he makes players around him better, Can noticeably dropped off when Hendo came off. But hey as most people have already said, Spurs are a bloody good side, they finished 2nd in the lg last season and 3rd the season before that and they needed serious help from the match officials to walk away with a draw. We looked good in the game, the keeper looked good, the defence looked good our attack our movement our key players even Mane looked better, the only downside for me was we gazed halfway through the 2nd half, but even though I was furious with the match officials I was extremely happy with the team. Incredibly unlucky not to have all 3 points, but that game just confirmed what we all knew already, Jurgen Klopps teams are set up perfectly to destroy big teams, the bigger the better and this bodes well for the Champions Lg.
