But I have been to the GN and town that night is always mental (great in a way, full of clunge). Adding a load of football fans to that as well isn't a great idea. And if there is a high profile assault (or god forbid, even worse) then the likes of Joe Anderson et al will quite rightly come out and say "I told you so".

Friday night would also be a bad idea i think. Basically, there will be a load of people in Liverpool already for the GN event / meet and town will be rammers. For me, at this stage, Monday night makes most sense.

Got to think though, why not just make sure both Everton and LFC are away that weekend at the start of the season??
That's not possible because we play at home opposing weeks, if we are at home Everton are away and vice versa. If we are both away the weekend of the grand national then there will be a weekend were we are both at home which just moves creates a different problem some other time. One of us has to play at home on grand national weekend. The football match at home that weekend is usually shifted away from Saturday afternoon, which still seems the most sensible thing to do.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

The Police don't give a ****, they can just see £££ signs for a **** load of overtime.
