We cannot rotate too much. I'd start with a very strong team and make changes if the game is beyond doubt early in the second half. We cannot be taking any risks with this one as Porto have absolutely nothing to lose and they will be thinking of redeeming themselves somewhat. Maybe rest Salah and Firminho and keep the rest of the team unchanged or swap Henderson for Wijnaldum.

There is still a full game of football to play. Let's give the under 15s a game then if it's all wrapped up?Originally posted by BigChief View PostWhat's beyond doubt? 1-0?
Rest Salah and Firminho and give Matip and maybe Klavan a run, but that should be about it really. Are we winning?

You are such a simpleton. And we better not hear any more posts from you saying how strong the squad is if they can’t be trusted to sneak home a 5-0 advantage v a mediocre side.

Fortunately Klopp will be the one making the decisions, not someone who's decision making would be classed around the binary spectrum at best.
The squad is strong enough and we rotated enough over the course of the season. Starting a champions league game with a reserve team at any level would be sending the wrong signal I think.
Start by resting 2 or 3 players, then see how it pans out. Would be a far more sensible thing to do.Are we winning?

Smashing them didn’t just get us a place in the next round it’s got us the luxury of being able to rest players which is fantastic late in the season so we should take it. It’s Porto not Man City!

We will rest players but I hope not to the levels that has been suggested in this thread. It's important we keep the winning run going and it's still a champions league game.Originally posted by Chris View PostWhy does it send the wrong signal? And who are these signals going to?

I'd rest Salah, Firminho and Van Dijk and maybe Robertson. Are we winning?

He shouldn’t need it anyway, CB’s don’t usually need resting and he only played something like half Southampton’s fixtures in the first half of the season.
There's obviously risk either way, but I'd sooner keep him in the team and continue to grow the confidence of the defence.Like blood on iron

Yeah I doubt even we could capitulate to that extent, but could still do without the panic that would spread through the defence without VvD there if they were to score a couple early on.Originally posted by Red_Polo View Post
