There has been a rivalry between the cities that is nothing to do with football, the canal and docks etc as mentioned above. But I have always seen that as a very minor part of the footballing rivalry. I have Everton fan mates who will say disparaging things about Manchester on the basis of that, but they love man utd because we hate them and they hate us. Their love in was reduced a bit after Rooney buggered off to OT but the hate was more directed to him. As I say I assume that there is less of a rivalry between us and city for similar reasons but I suspect that will/has changed now since city got competitive. I've never been aware of any Everton-City rivalry. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

when we ruled the world times were mostly bleak for the bitter blue nosed scroatsOriginally posted by Norbs View PostYeah I knew that. But it doesn't bother Everton and City. Odd
their one true ray of light in an otherwise stormy sky was to see us get beaten, and they would be happy whoever it was. then in the dbf years as manure overtook our dominance it meant the everton fans could enjoy the gloating seeing someone else take over our crown.
city have always had their own issues, relegation, etc, so were less involved in the intercity rivalry.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.
