Liverpool FC can confirm that Pepijn Lijnders has returned to take up a role in the club's first-team coaching setup.

The Dutchman brought a three-and-a-half-season stay at Anfield to an end in January as he took up the managerial reins of NEC in his homeland.

However, following his departure, Lijnders has agreed to rejoin Jürgen Klopp's backroom staff in a senior capacity.

Is this good, we seemed to have done quite well without him.

He's only 35 years old, so still plenty of time for him to get into management should he wish, and also, an opportunity to take stock of his experience with NEC.

Meanwhile, he can continue to learn from the best. I'll be intrigued to see if he's acquired any increased responsibilities, given we don't know what's going on with Buvac.

Klopp seems to rate him there is uncertainty about the role of Željko Buvač going forwards, so I would say yes.

He's allowed to leave if he wants to become a sprinter?

Would love to quit, **** off somewhere else, fail miserably, then return with a promotion. Impressive work.

I can do the fail miserably bit without even trying. In fact, my lack of effort almost ensures it.
