I think that this early part of pre-season is going to be key for some of the players on the fringes of the squad as it gives them an opportunity to force their way into Klopp's plans and get some game time while others are away. I think this applies to some of the youngsters such as Wilson, Solanke, Woodburn (I would add Brewster but he's injured). Similarly players who have been out for a while such as Clyne and Lallana need to use it as an opportunity to push themselves back into the side, while the likes of Milner and Wijnaldum need to start the battle for places in midfield. Similarly Karius has to prove that what happened in the CL final hadn't affected his game.
I think that there is still a chance that some of the players mentioned could be moved on either on loan or permanently, so alot of them have something to prove and this could be a big preseason for them. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Imo i think he'll be the no.1 keeper for the start of the new season,he'll get one more opportunity i think.Originally posted by Red_Polo View PostResponses to that tweet much better than I'd envisaged.
Still some dickheads about, obviously.

If he's fine mentally after the CL final I'd be fine with that if the alternative is someone like Butland - I don't see the sense in spending £30-40m on someone who is barely an improvement. But if we can get a world class keeper then that would be my prefered option but that is looking to be difficult.Originally posted by Bender View PostImo i think he'll be the no.1 keeper for the start of the new season,he'll get one more opportunity i think. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

This is what seems to be the situation....things will unravel as soon as the WC is over.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostIf he's fine mentally after the CL final I'd be fine with that if the alternative is someone like Butland - I don't see the sense in spending £30-40m on someone who is barely an improvement. Milner is as impressive as ****. He is the ultimate pro. Even with the new midfielders coming in, I think he will be one of the key players in the squad this season. Whether it will be starting games, coming of the bench to influence games, or even pushing everyone harder in training to secure a start in the next game. I see nothing but positivity here
