Jury is out but if he can stay fit, then he has a great opportunity to show what he is about this season. Let's see if he can develop and produce like he was expected to by all the coaches throughout the club.
If not, he'll have to go as we can't wait forever although it is very harsh to be slagging him off after his first game in ages. There were others such as Fabinho, Gomez, Robbo who were worse today plus Carvalho too

I think Klopp has really ****ed him by trying to turn him into a midfielder like Gini, he needs to play further forward and on instinct, he's so slow when trying to thinkOriginally posted by RedReet View PostI think the Arsenal semi finals last year showcased what Jones is about. First leg he came on LW and constantly ran at the defence, which was reminiscent of his youth team days here. 2nd leg, he was MOTM playing LM in the 3 and combined his attacking instincts with the discipline that Klopp has been trying to introduce when using him to replace Gini.
Jones has immense talent, biggest issue for him is a familiar one at Anfield, staying fit.

If he wasn't a scouser he'd be nowhere near the side.
He's championship level and i've been saying it all along. Slow of mind, slow of feet, not a good passer, not a good reader of the game, awful tackler, lacks energy and aggression, lazy but scored a nice goal once.
He's not an 18yr old kid anymore, like people are making out. He's coming up 22. Thats an age you should be making the spot your own. But he's failed time after time when given chances.

Time to move him on. He has been ineffective for a long time.Originally posted by Harv View PostIf he wasn't a scouser he'd be nowhere near the side.

He's more an attacking midfielder than the CM we are trying to play him at, with Diaz and Jota out I would be tempted to play him as the left sided forward I think that more suits his natural game, not sure what he would do long term. With the lack of other midfielders I feel he is suffering from being a square peg in a round hole. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

He’s getting a load of stick but hardly surprising.
He was in a central 2 alongside Fab, who’s form has fallen off a cliff.
He’s not a central midfielder, certainly not in a 2.
He’s been out injured for a significant amount of time.
Yesterday the whole team was garbage - GK aside.
If we’re going to keep with a more 4-4-2 approach then Jones should be on the left of that midfield. If we go back to a midfield 3 then he’s on the left of that 3.James Philip Milner Fanclub #1

yeah left mid & he is decent back up.
I still do not understand why klopp did not go with 45min split Hendo/Millie next to Fab & TAA at full back; made no senese whatsoever to hang Curtis out to dry in CM. Even Bajetic would have been a better call in centre mid; i hope klopp wasn't proving a point to the moneymen.....

The constant succession of injuries have held him back. He’s a year behind where he should be in terms of development, both physically, and in his decision making which is the most frustrating aspect of his game.
Still, judging on yesterday’s performance, after he’s played so little football for 10 months or so, is premature. Needs a run of games.

Probably would have benefitted from a loan move for a year coming back from injury, problem is we don't have the numbers in the midfield to let it happen.Originally posted by Patricks_Berger View PostThe constant succession of injuries have held him back. I don’t think he’s decent backup- maybe decent enough for a backup for a team pushing for too 4, but not for a team that wants to challenge for PL/CL.Originally posted by S-RED View Postyeah left mid & he is decent back up.

I was concerned when I saw him in the starting lineup. He’d only had one appearance back, from the bench, and was pretty poor in that. I’d have thought he’d had gotten a few more appearances from the bench when the game is wrapped up, the league cup game, and maybe the last CL game if it’s a dead rubber. Starting him was a big risk and didn’t pay off. Also wondered if it was proving a point to fsg..
I don't tip
