I know alot of our fans don't rate him, but I hope he stays and signs a new contract

. while Iraola had a first chat with midfielder Curtis Jones.

The Englishman has been subject to interest from Inter Milan – who had a bid turned down last month – and Nottingham Forest, among others as Liverpool value him at £35million.

Iraola said: 'I rate Curtis very highly. For me he is a great, great player and I hope he can continue with us and continue performing the way he has been performing. It's very important that he's Scouse, that he's from here.

'I also like the personality. From the outside at least he looks like a player with good character and I hope we can keep him, not only for this year but for more time.'
be interesting to see what happens with Jones after reading that.

The fact that the likes of Robbo and Jones are looking for the exit door is not a good thing. It would be categorically stupid to let Jones go at this stage, he's never going to be anything special but he has real value as a squad player

I don't think we'd let him go on loan......and I think we'd only sell if there was a replacement liner uo......someone like Camavinga maybe??

Does he have 18 months on his current deal.....or do lfc have an option on it??

Timing of some of these contracts are problematic i think. Lot to be sorted out this summer as the likes of Szoboslai and Grav have 2 years from this summer. Need to be tied up imo

[Joyce] Liverpool will not sanction the departure of any senior players before the transfer window closes after Inter Milan showed interest in a loan move for Curtis Jones.

Yeah not a fan of this, but does smack of how some of the other departures have gone down. Concerning.

Is he injured? I did wonder why he wasn’t on the bench on Weds.

Yep, it’s being discussed in the transfer thread

It's being discussed in the transfer window thread but given we play 3 out of 4 centre mids every game, letting ine of them in Jones go would be beyond stupid, even if we were able to get a replacement we aren't exactly over stocked with players at the moment.

It is a valid criticism of Jones, technically he's excellent but on times he really does need to release the ball quicker & stop dilly dallying around. Thought he has been very good recently & a welcome relief as Mc has been so bad but not going to read too much into yet as he has done this type of thing before only to go off the boil or get injured.

“That’s just because I’m comfortable on the ball.

“I don’t want to be in a rush and then I give a ball to a lad who is not as comfortable as me on the ball and he is kind of in a little bit of a challenge and then he gets the blame.

“I’d rather just take it on me and know that a lad who comes to press me is going to have to do an awful lot to take the ball off me.”
He does have very good close control, but he does often fail to release the ball at a good moment and seems to like to almost showboat his skills rather than be more observant of what free around him.
