Thiago is a great player but I feel that given how long he has been out, the amount of time it will likely take to get him back to full fitness and the situation with his contract it seems unlikely that he will be playing long periods in many games, it would be good if we could bring him on when needed in important games towards the end of the season but I wouldn't really consider him a first choice option anymore.

TAA I'm not sure where he fits into the midfield obviously the hybrid role has seen him in a double pivot, if he were to go into midfield full time I'm not sure he'd be suited to the 'DM' role that MacAllister plays and if he were to take one of the No 8 roles you would imagine him being more suited to the right hand one which Szoboszlai has been playing

Was impressed with his temperament last night too. There was a few occasions where he was strong with the ball and he was being kicked and nicked at a few times and he didn't respond or moan.

He has been brilliant this season

If he isn't picked by England for the summer then there is something seriously wrong imo. Id actually put him in a midfield 3 with Rice and Bellingham tbh. He is class. But when the likes of Henderson, Kalvin Phillips, Maddison etc all getting call ups before him, there is something wrong there

That would be a very tasty midfield trio.

To be fair, Maddison has been excellent for Spurs.

Could praise a few others, like Elliot and Robertson, but damn was Jones good yesterday.

In midfield and at RB. He was able to play that inverted role and maintain solidity at the back.

Quality performance and one that was mature beyond his years.

I would say that Curtis would be better in a middle 3 the way Southgate plays.......with Maddison being either off the left wing (in a front 3) or in a #10 role behind Kane.

So for me, Maddison is competing against the likes of Foden, Grealish, Rashford, Saka and maybr Cole Palmer etc whereas Jones is up against the likes of Henderson, Phillips, Ward Prowse..... And maybe even Trent

Yip i thought Jones was brilliant.

A year ago, i would have put money that he would nuat always be a squad player andaybe end up in a mid-table team when he was around 28/29 due to the need to play football. A bit of a darren fletcher. But he has been brilliant this season - and we should hope that a new manager doesn't harm his progress. Before he would take 5 touches when 2 were enough..... He has come on so far though and provides brilliant link between the full back and the winger. Brilliant season

No way a new manager drops him imo.

Said some years back that his style of play was very germanic and that he reminds me of a younger Goretzka in some regards.

Still think his style of play is very germanic though with an awful lot of what Thiago does mixed into how he holds a ball, how he turns his hips on the ball to slip a player and so on.

What is very interesting and starting to become more obvious as games go by is that Klopp has tasked Jones as being the guy that triggers our press. Watch when we make a very obvious press and I would lay money that 8 times out of ten Jones is the guy that triggers it and the rest of our line follow suit when he does.

Has become a very important player for us and one that, imo of course, is easily on par (at least) with every other midfield option we have at the club at present.

The way he played the inverted full back role at the weekend was very impressive.

His work rate defensively was high in the inverted role, but his workrate moving forward and still triggering presses did not drop either. Was a text book cameo in the inverted role and he seemed to use the position as a way to me placed to keep all the players in front of him on task as he was constantly talking and directing play.

Dare I say it was almost a captain's performance from him in that second half?

Suggestion floating around social media that he will miss the Euros, so is basically out for the season. Hopefully just BS as I would be surprised if we'd have been able to get a scan and results back in less than 24hrs

More likely to miss the Euros because Gareth Southgate is a clueless cunt

I really feel for him. Just like with Sturridge he has the makings to be club and country legend/captain for years. But unfortunately just like Sturridge his body is not designed for professional football.
