I see a future in government for YouOriginally posted by Buzzo View PostIt’s not really hypocrisy though. And he isn’t quite the same man.
He was then The Roma keeper with a massive price tag, and some time was spent considering reasons why it might not make sense to sign him.
Now he’s ours and it’s not unusual to see people get behind the signing. Looking at the positives when before they were searching for weaknesses.
Allowing ourselves the ability to evolve our opinions and slightly change our perspective, the beauty that human nature has to offer.
That last line ffs. Nice try

No, thats not what I saidOriginally posted by BG1973 View PostThe ability to change a view on a players capabilities determined only by what club they play for?
If that’s beauty, show me ugly.
Its natural that once he became our player, the doubts we had when his signing was a pipe dream begin to disappear. What is the point in hanging on to the doubts of, for example, the fact he shipped a load of goals when he played us?
I was sceptical that we should spend so much money on a relatively unproven goalkeeper. But now that it is done, he seems a good lad, and looks the part, I'm behind the signing 100%
Because, of course you can change your mind on a subject. Sticking to an opinion you had 3 months ago for the sake of it makes no sense. I think we all forget that players are actually human beings with the ability to improve, not their computer game aliases with pre defined stats built in to reflect their abilities.Modifying post.

I wasn't inciting a witch hunt. From a personal perspective I find it amusing and I'm unsure why that matters. Not even overly related to Alisson or football, just in general.
Although there's nothing to suggest that those people won't be the same to say 'I told you so' or 'I knew he was ****' if he has 2 or 3 poor performances.
I've been disappointed/excited about signings in the past which I've been proved right/wrong about. I was fairly confident Torres was going to be a huge flop and he shocked me how much he improved. I thought Meireles was going to be terrible and was pleased by his level of performance, whereas for some absurd reason I thought Poulsen could 'do a job'. Regardless my opinion of the player wasn't impacted by the fact that we signed them. I guess it's irrelevant overall, but I just find it strange.
By the same token that there is oddly some general consensus among like-minded supporters that the players who play for their club are so much better than players playing elsewhere. And honestly, unless you support Barca, Man City or Madrid - that is indeed quite unlikely most of the time. e.g. Many people on here seem to think that Danny Ings is quite a good footballer despite the fact he's played most of his football in the second tier, has played like 20 games in 3 seasons and has looked out of his depth for us. Then suddenly in CL/international threads Cavani, Higuain, Neymar, Gabriel Jesus and a host of other top players are somehow '****ing ****'.
Anyway, I'm just happy/relieved we've signed a new keeper.Last edited by Zapater; 01-08-18, 12:40 PM.

I know, I was being a little mischievous
We need to believe in keepers, and if we can’t get behind this one we’re ****ed.

Also, I hadn't realised how cool he was back then. He seems sound as ****, has a really confident vibe and a bit of an aura. I think he is going to be amazing for us.
In short, I love him.Modifying post.
