Seen the 5 week thing myself, but don't think it's substantiated.

Couldn't happen at a worse time, but I'd probably take it. We know he's definitely injured by his reaction, as it's pretty certain it's his hamstring, so my fear was/is it could be much worse.

5 weeks brings us to January break, so I'm guessing that's where that estimate came from as essentially that gives him over 7 weeks to recover.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

would be a real kick in the nuts that.

So ****ing sick of these early kicks offs after international breaks and then to top it off our keeper has to play 3 games in quick succession with 2 long haul flights thrown in the mix because their keeper conveniently has an 'issue' but is fine to take his place in our game. ****ing stinks.

Surprised Klopp hasn't said something about it tbh. So tired of the club just laying down for these ****s to walk all over us.

Pep's "masterplan" has had the desired effect.

No problem with kelleher being in goal. Hes brilliant.

He's had more than a couple of dodgy moment in the league cup games.

He's let a few shots go through him this season. If he does get a run of games hopefully it's the Kelleher from 2 seasons ago we see.

Kelleher has great distribution but in terms of shot stopping and one-on-ones, Alisson is in a league of his own (not just above Kelleher, but above every keeper in the league). However long he is out for we will miss him. Lets just hope we can get the results we need.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

TBF, it's a decent run of fixtures for him to get some match sharpness before United game in December.

He’s played about 25 games in his career to date so it’s really hard to know how good he is/or not. He has looked like he is regressing based on his recent outings, remember the league game vs Southampton at the end of the season. Another example of where we dropped the ball by not selling him when his stock was high post League Cup winning season and we could’ve cashed in….

Bit early to be claiming this Nev. This is the exact situation for why we did keep him, so let's see if it pays off.

And the reality is if we did cash in, we wouldn't have got anywhere near his worth, so when you factor in having to buy a replacement, I'm not sure how we'd have come out much better off.

The money we got for him would have be miniscule in comparison of dropping out of the top 4 and cups if we had Adrian in goal for anying length of time.

I know I am vastly simplifying things but here’s my thoughts. There’s two aspects for me - Kelleher as a player would’ve benefited from the move because he doesn’t get better without games. I think Nat Philips is a good example of not moving at the right time and having your career stagnate. I would say Kelleher has been actively poor in the games he has played recently and I’m not sure is it a lack of games or maybe he isn’t as good as we thought.

Aspect 2 is the club - I think we could’ve cashed in on him post quadruple attempt season. I am in no way advocating Adrien but rather use half the Kelleher money to buy what is a back up GK - go for an old pro as we have the world of young keepers. Again I’m simplifying it here. Hindsight is great but I think we should’ve sold Divock post CL win, Nat a couple of seasons back and probably more examples…. I know it’s easy to say that now

He'll be excellent. And we wont have to worry about him kicking the ball to the opposition or taking too long to kick. And knowing that hes going to get a good amount of games in the league instead of a couple in some lower comp will give him a confidence boost. He'll be great.

Agree on all points, should have cashed in on Nat and Div sooner (although extenuating circumstances played a part) and Kelleher has been poor by his standards lately. But I still think he's a very good keeper and think playing regular games with a proper defence ahead of him will hopefully help him regain form.

Providing Kelleher was willing to stay, I feel it would have been an unnecessary gamble for us to take replacing him. Alisson is quite injury prone for a GK, so I think it's important we have a PL standard keeper in reserve and that's not easy to find. It's not like years ago when sub keepers were just that, someone to sit on your bench every week. If Kelleher was starring for another PL right now and his replacement cost us points in the next few weeks, we'd all be asking a lot of questions and no doubt FSG thread would be bumped.
