As great as Citeh are, they are beatable (mostly by us). If we can match them against others teams I think we've a chance.Originally posted by Norbs View PostEvery time we're great there's someone just that little bit greater. Usually someone who doesn't really get how great it is to win the league (City and Chelsea) or someone spoilt by having done it many times recently (scum)
Sad to say that until gwardeola ****s off, City will win it and they'll do their mini parade round town
Keep putting away the other sides in the league is a must though.

A team like Palace *could* take points off them. They're industrious, organised and pretty pacy and have a decent chance of getting at their back line.Originally posted by memzey View PostThe problem is City won’t be playing us every week. We have to hope that some teams took notice of how we got after them last season and try to do the same otherwise they inevitably roll over and have pep tickle their tummies.
Which is a ****er because City play Palace at home at Christmas then away next April..Was muß, das muß.

True.....
I think Klopps Rocky Balboa analogy is actually spot on.
Looking at City though, they won 18 league games in a row last year. They hit record amount of goals, record amount of wins, hit 100 points in the league. Love them or hate them, that is ****in unbelievable. However, I have faith that we CAN win the league this season - because of the following reasons:
1. They will go all out for the champions league this season.
2. Of the 100 points, about 10 of them came from goals in the 88+ minute of games. That is the sign of a great team but surely their luck will change.
3. Although they have an amazing squad, they were lucky with injuries last season. Mendy being the one big miss for them.
Before Klopp, when you listed off the players in our squad, it was hard to get more than 4 or 5 that would add to the teams of Man City, Chelsea, United or even Arsenal and Spurs. It was a case of "ehhhh Suarez, Coutinho, Sterling........ehhh and Sturridge". Now you look at our squad and most of them would ****in walk into any other team - the only real debate being Man City's squad. But now it is a ****in debate"
I think we have a better defence than them.
The Brazil coach reckons we have a better goalie than them.
Our midfield now including Keita have nothing to fear.
Plus our attack is the ****in reason we can beat any team in europe....

Plus we have a very strong cast of young players to pitch in for the League and FA Cup.
I wouldn't be surprised if we went far in the CL again. Was muß, das muß.

That's not really the point, my point is we worry about ourselves and beating the other teams rather than how great City are. Then we break their hearts as we spank them.Originally posted by memzey View PostThe problem is City won’t be playing us every week. It kind of is really the point, at least the point I was making, in that to win a league title you have to have the best results spread across the season against all of the teams. If other managers buy into the whole “invincible city” thing and are losing games before they take the field but still believe the “LFC can be got at” thing and up their games against us then that won’t help us at all. What would help is an early draw or defeat for city against one of the also rans, showing the rest that it can be done.Originally posted by fah-q View PostThat's not really the point, my point is we worry about ourselves and beating the other teams rather than how great City are. Anyway roll on Brighton and another three points please. It's easy to distract fat people. It's a piece of cake.

Agree. Yernited used to benefit from the fear factor. Teams that got stuck into them could get results. Some managers need to grow a pair. I think things will get interesting when the UCL starts...cos Pep wants Citeh to win it desperately...Originally posted by memzey View PostIt kind of is really the point, at least the point I was making, in that to win a league title you have to have the best results spread across the season against all of the teams. Team I would like to see v Brighton:
----------------------------ALISSON----------------------------
TRENT----------GOMEZ--------------VIRGIL-----------ROBBO
----------------------------MILNER------------------------------
------------HENDERSON----------------KEITA------------------
SALAH---------------------FIRMINO---------------MANE-MANE
Would love to see Shaq, Sturridge and perhaps Fabinho also get some game time.
Early goal would be awesome - let's spank these ****ers

Would be harsh on Wijnaldum to get dropped given he has played well against West Ham and against Palace.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Yes I agree. I think we can afford to make changes and still win but there’s no reason to so early on in the season (and with 4 days to rest).
Think the players currently on the bench will have a massive part to play over the season but they just need to be patient and remained focused.
So I wholly believe we will start with the same team as previous two games.
Just to add, I know we have our club captain on the bench but he was late to pre-season and I think is understandable to the situation.Last edited by Maxiedge; 22-08-18, 07:40 PM.
