Clyne replacing Trent would be a big surprise for me. When did Clyne last play a comptitive EPL game? It's a bit of a risk and Trent has done nothing to deserve it..

I'd probably include Milner in front of them in that too.....
Only defence in the league to not concede.
Definitely no point making changes for no reason to a defence that is beginning to develop an understanding.Modifying post.

I’d be up for seeing this, Firmino playing a bit deeper.

Surely Firmino's and our forward play's strength is that he starts from a traditional centre forward position and drops into space pulling the defenders out leaving the space for Salah and Mane to run into. I was really impressed with Sturridge's work during pre-season but feel he is best utilised coming on against tiring defences, I'm not sure how effective he can be if starting and required to put in the hard running to start the forward press.
Like others, I wouldn't tinker too much with a winning formula especially as all players have had plenty of recovery time although I wouldn't be surprised to see Henderson or Fabinho in place of Milner.

I am sure Firmino played in the old Coutinho role a few times last season, and if we don't start with this lineup then it would be interesting to see it given an extended run out.
We will need to find occasion to try out different layouts at different times.Modifying post.

It was Brighton we used it against last year and looked good, beating them 4-0. However, it was last game of season and they had nothing to play for.
Can't see any chance of Fabinho starting. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Haha. Boom boom.Originally posted by frank the tank View PostWhy no Trent??
Also, Alisson should be closer to his goal
Clyne did nothing wrong in preseason & Trent hasn’t been that good going forward so no harm giving him a week or two off to keep everyone happy.Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

I don't see Fabinho starting, he has no PL experience and I am sure that his first minutes will be from the bench. I said at the before the start of the season that I didn't think we would start the season with two inexperienced PL midfielders out of three, and that I thought Keita would be the one who started, while Fabinho would be brought in more slowly, but to be honest I had been expecting him to have come on for the last 15-20 mins in at least one of the games so far assuming the match situation allowed. I find it interesting that he hasn't played at all yet.Originally posted by DeeTheDog View PostSurely Firmino's and our forward play's strength is that he starts from a traditional centre forward position and drops into space pulling the defenders out leaving the space for Salah and Mane to run into. Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool new boy Fabinho has responded positively to being left out of the squad for Monday's win over Crystal Palace.
The £43million signing from Monaco didn't even make the bench at Selhurst Park as Klopp believes he's still adjusting to Liverpool's style of play.
Asked if Fabinho needed more time on the training field, Klopp said: "Yes, it is about players understanding the position and who else is available as well – otherwise Fabinho would have been involved in the squad as he was in the first week.
"That is it. It is different football to what he is used to but he is improving already with big steps. I can see that in the sessions and that is cool."
Klopp believes Fabinho can take inspiration from Andy Robertson's transformation over the past 12 months.
The Scotland international endured a slow start following his move from Hull City but went on to nail down the left-back spot.
"You see Andy Robertson running around here at Melwood now and he's a completely different person to the one who was here in the first three months. That's how it is, but everything will be fine," Klopp added.
"Fabinho is used to playing at a high level in France. It is not about who we play but about how we play. For sure it is not nice for a new player. It never was but it is all fine."
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
