FA Cup vs Wolves I’d say - he’ll need a break, the same as the rest of them.Originally posted by frank the tank View PostDon't think we can rotate VVD......he is as important to this team as Stevie G was at his peak of importance. The difference being that this team is far better than anything that stevie played in

I'd rest the entire first team and play squad players and kids in the cupOriginally posted by Irishnev View PostFA Cup vs Wolves I’d say - he’ll need a break, the same as the rest of them. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

We have been very good this season. The defence is obviously where we have made huge improvements. It has coincided with a dip in our attacking venom but for me, this is just a coincidence because we are still creating loads of chances. Just not putting as many away.
The defence has been awesome. Virgil has got even better. Alisson has made an instant difference. Robbo has continued his upward trajectory - and Trent is continuing to show that when he gets consistency, then he could be a Liverpool great. And Gomez has been the find of the season. It is difficult to remember when we had a backline of something like Mig in goal, Lovren and Klavan in central defence with Moreno and Clyne at full back. Holy ****.
I think in every successful season, there are moments that click for a team where you think "that was f##kin huge". Think around 14 months ago when City won a good few games with injury time winners. It fed their teams confidence. They knew that if they kept to their game plan then they would be okay and that they were better than pretty much most teams that they played. This contrasted with their cup form. They had a few wobbles in the CL and when they played LFC, they knew that our first 11 could match them all over the park. This year I feel that we have the squad as well.
But also I feel that already there have been a number of pivotal points of the season for LFC. The Sturridge equaliser against Chelsea. The Mahrez missed penalty at home to City. The Origi goal against the Blue****e. The Alisson save against Napoli.
It is great to see these big moments come to different players. The fact that some of the big ones have come from squad players too must be a good thing - it will make them feel important to the cause and needed. Clyne coming in as a late call up against Man United is another example of that. 3rd choice right back, but is now needed and will be important for the next couple of weeks. The fact that he was part of a win against our biggest rivals will hopefully give him a spring in his step over the next couple of weeks.
I do think that if VVD or the goalie got injured then we would be in trouble - but hey ho - if it happens then it is a chance for someone like Lovren to show what he can do.
Also, do you know what I think one of the biggest compliments to our team was this season so far? Man City changed the way they play when they came to Anfield. They set up defensively not to get beaten. I can't remember Pep EVER doing that as a manager. I am hoping that Klopp is using that to give our players even more inspiration and confidence.
The game at the Ethiad on the 3rd Jan is going to be huge.
