This might sound a little negative but if we are as open as we were tonight vs City on Thurs they’ll punish us. City is a free hit for us IMO - go there under no pressure and have a right cut off them. Rest the full team vs Wolves in the cup then afterwards.

Also the possibility that City beat Southampton and then us, at which point they are STILL 4 points behind us. I'm not getting excited yet.

That's the answer that's always given but I don't buy that for a second. If you are a Liverpool supporter and we blow the league on the last day v Wolves it's going to hurt if you got excited in December or not so seems weird to not just enjoy the ride. Last season was loads of fun even if it ultimately ended in nothing. Can't imagine not enjoying Roma, Porto and Man City last season because of the mindset "we might lose in the next round" but each to their own I suppose.

People enjoy things in different ways. Some might say more important you enjoy it yourself than criticise whether others are enjoying it to your satisfaction or not. For some people it's probably a self-defence mechanism and all they can do to stop themselves singing ee aye addio! Either way who cares, I'm still having a ****ing blast and that's what counts.

I want to get excited but 2014 is still fresh in the memory and I won't allow myself to think of what might be until we do it.

Even at 4-1 today I wouldn't allow myself to get too excited. I was 8 last time we won the title and have faint memories of it but that's it.
