Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City plans are good news for Liverpool amid title race with Man City
Leicester City boss gives his thoughts on the final three fixtures, the title race and the Europa League
Brendan Rodgers will not let Leicester City's season wind down quietly with the manager ruling out experimental line-ups in the final three fixtures.
The end of the campaign typically signals more game-time for fringe or academy players, especially at mid-table clubs, as attention turns towards the summer and preparing for the new term.
Development squad stars Hamza Choudhury, Harvey Barnes, Sam Hughes, George Thomas and Layton Ndukwu were all included in matchday squads in the final few weeks of last year, but Rodgers admits similar this season is unlikely.
Only seven games into the job, the City boss is still figuring out how to get the best from his first-team stars, and asked if he will experiment, Rodgers replied: “Not so much.
“I think the three remaining games (against Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea) are very exciting, which is great.
“We’ll just finish the season as strongly as we can and take it from there.”
Rodgers’ statement is good news for Liverpool fans, who are pinning their hopes on Leicester stealing points from Man City in just over a week’s time to swing the Premier League title race in the Reds’ favour.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is also hoping for a helping hand from his landlord, the German renting Rodgers’ house on Merseyside.
It would be an opportunity for Rodgers to help Liverpool win the title he went so close to claiming during his time at Anfield.
But the Northern Irishman’s thoughts are on his current side first and foremost.
“I haven’t given it a great deal of thought,” he said. “We have a game before that but my job is to do Leicester a favour.
“Every game is important. These are exciting games in this last period of the season and we will look to give our best.”
Leicester will require a few favours of their own if they are to achieve seventh place and a potential Europa League spot.
Recent results have seen City fall to 10th, three points off Wolves in seventh, with Rodgers’ men now 20/1 to be the ‘best of the rest’.
If the sides above City do slip up, Rodgers has said he will embrace European competition, but does admit that they would be better placed to do well in the tournament in a year's time.
“(The Europa League) brings a greater demand,” he said. “Your squad, we know we have to improve anyway but if we have qualifying and there are more games it gives you less coaching time.
“The argument is that in one year’s time you have a structure in place, an identity that is very clear, and you have had a longer period to work so you will be better prepared for that.
“However, you go into every game trying to do our best so whatever happens we will embrace it.”What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp's hilarious message to Brendan Rodgers as title race hots up
The Leicester City manager has been asked for a favour by his Liverpool counterpart
Jurgen Klopp has a message for Brendan Rodgers ahead of Leicester City's clash with Manchester City on May 6.
The Liverpool boss will be relying on the former Anfield manager to do his side a favour as the title race draws to a close.
Manchester City's 2-0 win at Manchester United on Wednesday night means the Reds now sit one point behind the leaders in second with three games remaining.
And Rodgers' Leicester play Man City in their penultimate game, hoping to do the double over the champions after their Boxing Day defeat of Pep Guardiola's side.
An intriguing title race has thrown up more storylines as another former Liverpool boss, Rafael Benitez, will host his old side when the Reds travel to Newcastle United next month.
While Rodgers and Klopp share a working relationship, theirs is closer than most given the latter is living in the Foxes manager's house in Formby.
"One is still living in Liverpool (Bentiez) and the other one is my landlord," Klopp said before looking down the Sky Sports camera and adding "Brendan" accompanied with a smile.
The presenter then jokingly quipped that he could withhold the rent should Leicester fail to beat City.
"Can I?" Klopp responded.
"In Germany that's not possible but if it is in England then tell me!
"They have to do their own job themselves and we have to do ours.
"I really have no problem that. I'm really happy about the situation. What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins
