I think most of us picking our best 11 before a ball was kicked probably wouldn't have had Milner, Shaqiri, Wijnaldum or Gomez in there and they are 4 of our top 6 rated players. 2 of them still are probably not considered starters

I assume that it is a weighted voting system following where each persons first placed vote gets 5 points, second choice 3 and third choice 1 point. Then the points are summed up and MOTM is decided based on who has the most points. I guess the 129 votes is really 129 points.

These points are different to the points summed up to determine player of the season with each MOTM getting 5 season points, 2nd place 3 and 3rd place 1. Doing it this way means that each match is equal and not biased by how many people voted.

That's what I always assumed anyway. I am sure Morse can correct me if i'm wrong
