Gonzalez has torn his hamstring apparently. He is going to be out for quite a while by the looks of it.
Twin boys - now arriving late August 2008.

Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

Need a midfielder to come in January.

        Shame for Gonzalez.

Xabi was being a bit of a tart asking off. He'll be fine.

Better be safe than sorry I guess. That's 3 mids out and we're only end of November.

I hope you're right but I remember Xabi trying to play on with a broken ankle against Chelksi on New Years Day 2005. He doesn't seem to be one to come off unless he's in a bad way. Fingers crossed anyway.

Shame for Gonzalez - he was having another decent first half.

Stick Carra in midfield and let Agger and Sami cover at the back.

Carra will do a much better job than Zenden in there and he would allow Gerrard to push on a bit.

He did try to play on though.

I'm not too bothered. We could do without 'hollywood balls' anyway on our current form. Besides Gerrard can play with 'Fat Frank' better than he can with Alonso!

Be fair mate, Zenden done ok tonight and allowed Gerrard to push on plenty of times.

                          Is right.
Carra hasn't the composure, nor the distribution and ballskills to play in the midfield.

I don't know mate. Makalele is not the best passer or most skillfull player in the world but he is one of Chelskis best players and really does a job for them as a DMC.

Makalele is a brilliant DMC because he has great first touch, great vision and very neat short passing. He also has a positional sense produced by playing in the position for his entire career. I think that DM is one of the most specialised positions on the park to do well in over time, defenders can do it one off or to combat certain threats from the opposition but most are found out very quickly (think Ledley King for England). It's a hard job and I think we would be better off if Carra and Agger stay in defence and build up a better understanding.
