Tantalisingly close to them being closer to the relegation places than us

A lot of pressure on them now in that match away to Palace. If they start that with Otamendi and Fernandinho at CB again they could get rinsed.

Two weeks to mull over that shocker of a performance.

Only hope we can keep it up. They have a number of injuries and we're not playing too well. Let's hope this is our blip

I think the Laporte injury is what they will say is key here. However, I am not so sure to be honest. Kompany has been a big loss to their dressing room too. Also, the fact that they have put Rodrigo straight into holding midfield is possibly an issue to them too. Klopp slowing integrating Fabinho and Robbo looks to have been a master stroke now. And if there is any team in the world that has the resources to integrate players into their new surroundings, it is Manchester City.

De Bruyne being out is huge to them too.

Every game is going to be a final for them now - but one where they can't even afford to draw.

Also, what do people think about them playing before us in their next 2 games? Is that an advantage or not? I think Palace away - at a bouncing Selhurst Park - under the lights as it is a half five KO - will be a tough game for them too. I imagine the likes of Zaha will get some joy running at their defence.

Villa at home should be straight forward - but you never know. Their team will never had experienced pressure like this. Ottamendi is a ****in car-crash.

One other thing - when we play them at Anfield, we play a home game in the champions league the previous Tuesday - I think it is at home to Genk. They play away to Atalanta on the Wednesday. We will know that we are under his skin if and when Pep complains about their fixture list compared to ours.

If we can maintain the 8 point lead over them up until we play them, then that is possibly the biggest league game at Anfield in a generation. Win that and we will all start to believe.

              Holy ****!!

Kompany is a huge loss for them but its compounded by Laporte being injured

I think we need to calm down a touch, we are in a great position but titles have been won and lost from further out than an 8 point lead after 8 games
Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

We're calm. I haven't seen a single genuine Liverpool fan, either on here, or even on Twitter that's getting carried away yet.

It's rival fans getting carried away from what I can see.

I think it's fair to say we've all been there before in terms of thinking we've won it too early.

Yep I’m with you pair. we had a similar lead last season & a few draws compared to them getting a few wins & the lead was as good as gone. The team will have learnt from that too.

90 points to play for yet; 8 points is nothing as we all know

We're calm - we can still enjoy a good weekend for us!

I'm certainly not gloating or anything; haven't even mentioned the football at work yet hence why I'm on here taking the piss between us Reds!

I had mates wanting to award us the trophy last Christmas (Manc & Arse supporters) but I was getting carried away at all. We’ve had false dawns before haven’t we so I’m sure the majority of ours are cautiously optimistic. A few bad injuries & a few dodgy decisions & we could be back level again hey.

The big thing is going to be how we react when we drop points, we have had a great start to the season, but because of the points total we got last year and City have had for the previous two years, any dropped points are seen as a massive thing arguably blown way out of proportion. Our run and the points difference puts pressure on City, but if we slip up you can guarantee that rival fans and the media will start saying we are bottling it.

The other thing that is key is keeping players fit and fresh, you can see the effect that injuries have had on city and they have a bigger squad than we do. Injuries to the front three or VVD could have a big effect on results. Similarly we need to keep the lads in midfield fresh. There is still a hell of a lot of football to come and anything can happen.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

All the hype is symbolic of the dumb-downed, click-bait society we live in, where rewards have to be instantaneous and nobody wants to take the time to watch a long story unfold..I suspect fewer novels are read, and if they are, it's because every chapter has a cliff-hanger. A bit off-topic, I know...but can't we just wait until ****in March to see where we are before handing the league title to anyone? **** Sky and radio phone-ins.
