I want to believe this but I don't think our actual football has been good this season, especially away from home. We're doing enough to scrape wins, but we need to put teams to the sword and win easy soon otherwise I'm convinced it'll catch up with us later on. Mentality is crazy good. But it takes a lot of strength to keep going late. Its 13 games in, so early. So many games this season could have ended differently but for close decisions and poor finishing by our opponents.Originally posted by Leyton388 View PostIt's going to take a collapse on legendary proportions for us not to win it and City to pretty much win every game they have.we've won 134 points out of the last possible 150 odd.
If we don't keep a clean sheet soon and turn in a real performance I have concerns its only a matter of time before we draw or lose. Yes call me negative but that's how I see it. I don't know any team that has won a title by just scraping results. Its normally the term that plays best all season with the odd game here and there whereby they are **** but still find a way.
City are capable of winning games, we've seen it before. I don't think Leicester will maintain their form, I hope not.
For the record I'm not knocking what we are achieving. This run is ****ing crazy. But can it carry on? Winning most points in a calendar year doesn't get you a prize unfortunately. I think I have 30 years of disappointment so ingrained on my brain that I'll probably think we'll lose it with a 4 point lead and 1 game to go. I'm praying it's this season. It needs to happen more than anything else in the world right now.

You are not alone and there is a lot there I agree with. We are not playing fluid attacking football and swatting teams aside but we are grinding out results. We’ve had a but if luck in terms of opponents missing chances but how much of that us down to the fact that they feel so much pressure to score because we are so good?Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostI want to believe this but I don't think our actual football has been good this season, especially away from home. I genuinely think that every VAR that has gone our way has been correct and we prob should have got even more. The table doesn’t lie and the mentality of the side is off the charts - I sometimes think we actually play within ourselves to conserve energy and score when we have to
.
Like you it’s the 30 years are disappointment in the league that looms large in my head, it’s the thought of blowing such a lead, it’s the spectre of City in the background knowing the could win every game from now to the end if the season - these are the things that worry me. Jurgen has turned the players from doubters to believers but some of us fans are scarred deeply from past failures and we want this so bad
Watching it yesterday when they drew level I just expected us to score and win.......why, because that’s what we do and you know what......we did. If we win this damn thing we might win the next 2 with it

I was listening to either the Redmen or Bloodred podcast the other day and they had a theory that Klopp maybe purposefully playing more conservatively just now - just doing enough to win games to ensure that the team doesn't burn out in the second half of the season - we had that rocky spell around Feb last year where we drew a few games which pretty much cost us the title.
I think we topped the league for most sprints last season, it would be interesting to see if that is still the case.

Obviously it the results rather than the performance that matter, I don't think that we have been playing badly it's just that teams setup to try and frustrate us, and it has to some extent worked for large parts of the game, but in the end we have broken them down or the have tired and we have got the win with a late goal. These are the types of games that for many years we would draw or lose, so the fact that we are winning them them is massive.
Obviously a few big wins and clean sheets would be nice too, and the opportunity to take some key players off and give them half an hour off if we are 3 or 4 up after an hour would be nice
particularly with the hectic fixture schedule coming up. But having won 12 and drawn 1 of our 13 PL games I don't think we can really complain.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

An amusingly preposterous article suggesting that because Leicester have a club record FIVE CONSECUTIVE WINS
, they are "title contenders".
In truth, they are having a fantastic season and if they finish single digits in points behind us, that will be an amazing feat for them.
That said, I really hope they can beat City.Oh I don't know.

Yeah, they have had a nice run of fixtures also, with Burnley, Southampton, Palace, Arsenal and Brighton.
Their next 4 are pretty straight forward also: Everton and Watford at home, Villa away, Norwich at home.... and then City away. Then us at home on Boxing day. Those two games could be huge for all three teams.
They are doing really well, and I think they will pose a challenge to the likes of City and us in one off games. I also think they are easily good enough for top 4.Last edited by Buzzo; 25-11-19, 10:52 AM.Modifying post.

You have to say we could get 92pts or more. Brendan's previous best in the PL is 84pts and Leicester's best is 81pts. It seems unlikely that they could improve by 8pts, but not impossible.
All the talk of Leicester 'not having played anyone' isn't strictly true. They've played us and Chelsea away, as well as Sheff Utd away and Spurs at home. They've also played Man Utd, Palace away and Burney, Arsenal Wolves at home. That's everyone bar City in the top 10. I think they've done really well so far

Weirdly a lot of the criticism that gets levelled at us (we'll struggle if we get injuries), I actually level at them.
They've got a good team but I'm not sure their squad is strong enough to go the whole season without a bad spell.
Think they, and especially Vardy on the counter, could cause City all sorts problems though.

I think similarly to us in 2013/14 Leicester are benefitting from the one game a week. It will be interesting to see how they get on once European football breaks and it's two games a week domestically over the busy Christmas period, they have a good 1st eleven but little depth beyond that. Recalling our 13/14 season, we suffered back-to-back losses over the Christmas period which ultimately proved quite costly.Originally posted by Norbs View PostYou have to say we could get 92pts or more. The timing of the Leicester game is fortunate for us, instead of coming off the back of a tough European game; it comes after Leicester's busiest period of two games, per week since the start of Dec, including a tough away game at City. Whilst we are playing in the less pressured environment of the World Club cup, were we can rest players if required.

That’s the thing for me. It is conceivable (and by conceivable it is going to happen) that we will drop more points, hell, we might even lose a game or 2. But the other teams need to almost guarantee perfection. They can’t afford to drop many more points. Though we might drop points I don’t see our form falling off a cliff.
We’ve not even been playing all that great FFS. Now the international games are done for a few months I can see the team getting more of a rhythm and playing even better.
It would be great to get the gap up to 10 points plus.Modifying post.

We were ****ing robbed by that prick Lee Mason at Etihad and it cost us the league. And Mignolet, the ****.Originally posted by DeeTheDog View PostI think similarly to us in 2013/14 Leicester are benefitting from the one game a week. We're in a bit of a Michael Schumacher situation in that we can afford to draw with Leicester and City as it harms their pursuit on us more than it harms usOriginally posted by Buzzo View PostThat’s the thing for me.
