On a different note, are many fans travelling for this? Presumably tickets are reasonably easy to get hold of?

I know of very few going. Been expensive couple of years. It being in Qatar has put loads off. Think we would have took loads if it was in Japan again

Yeah. A few factors really. Japan would be a more interesting place to visit.

The politics of it. The drinking rules in Qatar. It's not a place you'd want to fall foul of the law and be banged up is it.

I think flights and hotel for 4 days is at least a grand. Plus tickets and spends.

I'm surprised Qatar haven't put cheap flights with their airline to get people over. They've spent enough money on everything else.

I hadn't looked because I have no more hols left this year. But on Expedia it's about £550 currently for flight and 4* hotel going on Monday. And eating out and taxis are cheap there.

Not so good for booze though as you say, in fact they raised the alcohol tax there a few months back IIRC. It might still be a bit less than Dubai though albeit there are fewer places to buy it.

From Birmingham, looking at the whole month, the out is Tuesday and the back in on Saturday for a total flight price of £393 but when I go to the booking page I can't do better than £490.
