Lewis Steele on X - Harvey Elliott - “Liverpool is my club. Liverpool is my team. I want to fight for my place, fight for my position in the team. It’s down to me to put in the effort, the hard work, the desire, to make that achievement...."

Spoke to Harvey Elliott last night and when asked on links with a summer move away he said:
“Liverpool is my club. Liverpool is my team. I want to fight for my place, fight for my position in the team."
“It’s down to me to put in the effort, the hard work, the desire, to make that achievement. I am not going to give up, I am going to keep fighting.”
He played a huge role in the win yesterday.

Deserves a bit more recoginition.
Give him some more minutes ffs.
Not the quickest and doesn’t score many but he can pick the lock and make things happen. He’s a class player and still a kid so imagine how good he can be in 3 or 4 years’ time.

Don’t know if this makes sense to others but could the reason that players like Elliot and Quansah haven’t played as much is that they need a bit more time and work to adjust to the new system?
Both have played all their football under Klopps style, I know Elliot had a loan spell. All the others have played football in different teams and managers. This could also be some what applied to Jones who has had great games and some average games as he adjusts.
Maybe Slot likes to be a bit more patient with younger players and has a few things he’d like to fix up inthem before they get more regular game time. While they’ve played big games and Elliot has plenty of experience now some managers have different approaches to players.Last edited by peterbread; 18-01-25, 11:33 PM.

No but he’s not bad against bus parking sides. He’s got a football brain the lad. I don’t care if he’s a starter every match but he’s a very handy squad player that deserves more minutesOriginally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostI don't want to lose him but let's be honest. He's never going to be a regular if the system we play. He's not quick enough to play wide, not robust enough to play central. Be great at spurs.

Could well be Jones. Though I think he might be better as an 8. May have been in this thread but some time back I was saying that Jones, he might have been 20 or 21 at the time, reminded me of a young Goretzka.
He has a style of play, Jones that is, and a level of ability that still has that comparison ringing true for me as, like Goretzka, Jones looks like there are about three or four positions that he could excel in.
Of course with Elliot, given he is only 21, it could well be a thing that when he turns 23 we are only then getting to see the true level of player he will grow into being. I reckon there could well be a David Silva style of player in him. Note I said style and not loevel before anyone jumps on me for saying Elliot is nailed on to be world class for sure.

I think it’s more likely to be Jones. He really looks to have gone up another level and he’s quicker over the ground than ElliottOriginally posted by Doc_Piptorious View PostElliot might well become or be that player, but think MacAllister is the one that could step in there and excel in the here and now given how well he played in that role when used in it for BHA.
