He's a very talented player, imo Slot is looking to build an athletic/pacey side and Elliot although a lovely footballer.. doesn't fit the bill. I think he'll do well there.

He needs regular games, but I doubt Brighton will let us negotiate a buy back though, they'll see him as an investment as they do with all their players. He's red through and through though so if he got the chance to come back later I think he'd jump at it. Will be sad to see him go but he needs the move now, he'll be a fantastic player for someone.

Yeah £50m would be too much to knock back imo. I think we’ll accept around £40m but I’m also happy if he stays as long as Slot gives him game time. Based on how Jota performed after his injury I’d rather he was sold, Nunez & Chiesa too actually before we sell Harvey.

Whether Slot might rotate more next season and that means more game time for Elliott or not I suspect if we are talking £50m the club probably think that is too good an offer to turn down for a squad player.

Slot did come out and say he needs to rotate more next season and has learnt it’s more of an issue than he was used to. So even with that in his mind he’s still happy to see Elliot leave. And if you look at the signings and potential ones that depth and quality has improved and will make that rotation easier with less drop off and players he’s happy with.

Sadly he just hasn’t progressed. And I know he didn’t play much this season but I’m talking under Klopp who loved him. He couldn’t establish himself as a regular first choice in his midfield even during and after the rebuild he never played week in week out and while he started games it was never 3-4 in a row. He came in and out of that team.

And this from someone who has backed him from the start. I’ve always been a massive fan but it’s time to face reality and I don’t think we’ll regret it. I’m sure he’ll do well wherever he goes but not at the very top level.

As an attacking mid there are probably more opportunities for sub appearances than for Quansah or Kelleher, but given how little time he got last season I struggle to see that improving this year were he to stay.
Am still hopeful that Harv is kept on to challenge Salah. It's a big job, but he's such a good player it would be a real shame to let him go. I think we'd be pretty excited if we were signing him now, but unfortunately he'd have to be happy with a squad place. As I see it, the only fault I see so far in Slot's methods is his reluctance to rotate, even in games we should coast. Even the FA Cup and League Cup aren't enough to truly sate a player of his quality. He needs more league games. I wouldn't begrudge him any move he makes.

I guess it wont be here though. I dont think Slot gave him a fair chance, with only two league starts at the end of the season when the rest of the team were knackered or checked out. He still returned good numbers despite limited chances. Wirtz is obviously an upgrade, but it would have been nice to keep Elliott too. Saying that he would still only be third choice, so its probably best we cash in if Slot isnt going to use him.

I guess youngsters are a bit of a luxury when you are trying to compete at the top. Success has a cost too, I guess. Its just a shame to see Quansah, Elliott and Kelleher (plus Nat Phillips and Trent) all have to leave to get games, but thats life. Its going to be even harder for the kids to break through now. Even Bradley may struggle to get in with Frimpong likely tearing it up.

I think another problem for him is the position. His best role seemed to be as a wide forward/right winger. He looked great there early on and his loan with Blackburn he was fantastic in that wide role. The problem is a guy called Mo Salah.

I think this is why Klopp tried to get him into midfield where he just doesn’t work. The defensive side of his games is exposed as is his physical side. Out wide he can manage that better.

Maybe that move and whatever changes came with it disrupted everything.

Two things with Harvey, lacked pace and dwelled on the ball ala Curtis - Apart from that bloody gifted and I agree he didn't get a chance under Slot

I don’t think it’s just the pace he lacks but he doesn’t seem very mobile or agile. Back in the day it wouldn’t have been an issue but with the pace of the game it stops him being able to really show his creativity.

I don’t know if that terrible ankle injury changed him but while he wasn’t rapid he wasn’t slow and was more mobile.
