Be interesting to see what happens now with regards to the passing of Diego Jota.

I think the aim is to have something close to having two players for each position with little drop off should they need to be swapped out or rested etc. Alisson and Mamardashvili, Frimpong and Bradley, Kerkez and Robertson, Gakpo and Diaz, Midfield is a bit more complex but similar picture with Gravenberch, MacAllister, Szoboszlai Wirtz and Jones being 3 from 5. The other positions being worked on currently (CB and CF) that gets us a squad of probably about 18-20 with the rest being made up of youngsters and the odd squad player who is useful to have around but doesn't start much (e.g Endo).Originally posted by Tatterdemalion View PostDepends on whether Slot is prepared to give him more game time (doubt it) and whether he wants to fight for his place (with more minutes, probably). Still, I think the net is he will go and for his own benefit I think he should.
It's quite hard to fight for a place if you never get the opportunity in live action. The only issue I have with Slot. We'll end up with a small squad of starters and a broad set of nevers.
As I see it the only options for Elliott if he stays are to become the rotation for Salah, become the 6th CM or an Endo or Cup team player. Not really sure any of those are great options, the first would be the best but I'm not sure he has the skills etc for that, and still relies on Slot giving him.games or resting Salah

Yeah, I'd keep him. He looks a sound lad, good for morale and he's intelligent with it

If you include CL games of 171 minutes. That is less than 6 games.Originally posted by red g View PostThat is an excellent point. Puts me right back in my box.
18 games played this season.....1 goal.
****.
minutes played 360 minutes.
1 goal every 4 games.....not so bad
6 games 4 goals 2 assists.
Thats Salah levels of return. Honestly not sure how he can be expected to improve on that.

I do agree. Couldnt resist though. I think he tends to shank a lot of his shots oif he can cut that out his numbers could grrow quickly

I didn't realise the amount of appearances he's racked up. I must be letting the fact he's got me a couple of FGS bets up cloud my judgement.
And overall 32 goals and assists in all comps isn't too bad, plus it's more PL goals than Palmer had before joining Chelsea.

He's maybe not as good as Cole Palmer, but I could see him having a similar impact at his next club.
He'll be one of the first names in my FF team.
