Good player but I just don't see anywhere in the team where he could be a starter. For the sake of his own career he needs to instigate a move this summer otherwise he'll stagnate.

Just not set up for him to flourish, clearly got talent, played some great little one-twos and others just don't seem to be on the same wavelength tbh. Lots of these players are still in default Klopp mode when going forward.

Has a tendency to go missing for large portions of the game too, which you just cant afford to have in our side.

    Think he'll definitely be off

I'm pointing out he wasn't a first choice last season, what's comparative output with Dom and Macca got to do with it?
He ended tbe season as first choice, and was there on merit which was my original point.

He has played less than 200 minutes in 14 league games this season. He hasnt really been given a chance until today, and he stacked the team with fringe players.

He has been better in the champions league too, playing in stronger sides.

He may not be suited to a Slot team, but I dont think he has been given a chance really. There have been multiple games where Dom has been way off and Elliott would have been a good plan b, but Slot has chosen to go a different way.

I think he is one of two players who can put dangerous balls into the box, and Trent is leaving. If Elliott goes I think this a priority for us (maybe Macca could do this in a more advanced role).

    And he’s not a forward.

His stock is high, it might be worth cashing in on him even though it’ll be a shame him going.

And it’s not really just this season.

I don’t know where he fits in. Not enough pace for the wide role and probably not physically strong enough for a central role when it comes to the defensive side especially.

Maybe he can play the impact sub role if he’s happy but with the quality needed to keep winning at the top level I don’t think he’s got it now. He’s still young but how much better is he now than he was 2 years ago? Is he still progressing enough? I want him to make it but I’m starting to change my thoughts on him.

And when you see links to someone like Morgan Rogers who’s a year older but might fit better and is able to play the wide and central role more effectively the age thing starts to go out the window. He’s not really a young player and should be further along in his development. Klopp seemed to have the same issues, where does he fit into the team.

    As a 10, in a 4 2 3 1 would be his best position,

Think with enough game time, there may well be that kind of player in him. A Mata or David Silva style of player.

Have no idea if he could reach the level of either in their prime, but he certainly looks to have it in him to bring similar qualities as those two.

Do think his decision making is already pretty good and what sometimes lets him down is the lack of movement through the central channels of our final third.

Against Newcastle he moved in a lot and you could see him looking for a run to play the ball of front of again and again, but then having to check back and pass sideways when there was no movement.

Chiesa then started making runs and Elliot went looking for him and we all saw what happened there. A clever top class player making smart runs and a switched on creative player reading the play.

I reckon Elliot is unlucky in a few ways but not least in that at present he could be upgraded upon without a massive outlay being needed. No fault of his own on that score as he is a young player still developing and probably a couple years off really hitting his stride.

Still would not look to sell him though unless a really silly offer came in. He is too useful as a utility sub at present and has a damn fine g/a return for the little time he gets on the pitch.
