Fab has played, what, half an hour in pre-season? Henderson hasn't even joined the squad til today. I'd be very surprised if either start. Milner, Keita + 1 imo. Probably Elliott.

Hasnt Henderson been training for a few weeks? All sorts of videos I seem to remember of him running and stuff couple of weeks ago?
        *Except Michael, who died.

Think Fabinho will start vs Norwich. He needs game time to get up to speed and would prefer him to get those minutes in and some rust taken off against Norwich and Burnely than bringing him back against Chelsea.

He has been training with the players left in the UK whilst the team were out of the country. Not sure for how long exactly but he has been back in training.

On his own yeah, Klopp likes them working with the squad doesn't he. We'll see, but I'd be surprised.

Ideally I'd love Fabinho, Thiago and Keita to start.

                He’s here to stay
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

                  Has Jones featured in preseason?

He's already accomplished more before 1st team debut than Trent or Jones got theirs.

Jones was whipped out of the side when the others came back because we had been in terrible form and as nice as his play looked at times, it wasn't that effective.

Gini would be a nailed on starter and he's gone. Only Fabinho and Henderson when fit are pretty much nailed on now.

Elliots style brings something different to the midfield 3. Of course he could get a chance and not perform and then end up with very little game time in which case maybe a loan in the new year would make sense.

I wouldn't loan him out to another prem side unless they were somewhat similar in style of play and mid table at least. If he's kept at Liverpool, the club can control under which circumstances he gets experience and always playing our way. Going to a club in the second half of the table won't do him any good nor would a team that sets up to constantly hit on the counter.
To be fair I think Jones was taken out of the side last year because the side wasn't playing too well, rather than anything to do with his individual performances. IMO Klopp wanted more experienced players in the side to get through a difficult time and would probably have done the same with Elliott or anyone else. Playing youngsters in a struggling side doesn't really help anyone. We already had to play fairly inexperienced guys at the back in Phillips, Kabak and Williams, we really needed some old heads elsewhere to guide them through I think Jones was just the victim of that.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Good post, stand corrected then, the team wasn't that effective but I guess those stats hint that his individual performances couldn't have helped much more

Agree with all of that, the stats above seem to back it up too. Klopp definitely wanted as much experience in it as possible because of the CB situation.

IIRC, did Klopp not say that Jones had picked up an injury last year that wasn't common knowledge and that was the real reason he disappeared from the first team when he did?

It makes quite a few good points. Tl/dr being a midfielder in Klopp's team is massive. The fact Elliot took it in his stride at 18 whilst being targeted is quite something.

I never saw Elliott as midfielder, more a forward but I reckon Klopp knows a fair amount more about him than I.

Already we can see glimpses of what he can do. His passing is superb and I think his current position suits him very well.

I wasn’t expecting him to be worthy of a starting place so soon, but he’s really impressed me this pre season. One of the key reasons we could let Shaq leave.
                                Are we winning?
