I’ve been harsh on his defensive instinct and his size doesn’t help him in midfield sometimes…… but, there is no doubting his effort, technique and his love for the club. He was really excellent yesterday. Like a little terrier, snapping into things around the midfield - he gave Garnacho a few welcome to Anfield moments as well

Which player does he replace yesterday though or which of the subs should he have been ahead of?

He is nowhere near as good as Jota to be subbed on for Darwin (and certainly not good enough to have been a starter in the LW slot) and that then only leaves one of the CM starting slots or CM sub spots and would not have used him instead of Jones or Bajcetic either yesterday.

Elliot then started in the more attacking CM/AM slot yesterday so that was the only other slot available really.

Yep, one of his best games all season. That version of Elliott and he's in the team every week, no doubt. He was everywhere and bar one bad pass was excellent with the ball.

Just needs to get some power into those shots from distance and he'll be very dangerous around thee box

Thought Elliot was excellent in that second half, he put in a great shift - winning back possession and never letting the opposition settle. Got an assist and was also involved in the build up to our 6th.

He also had a good game vs Wolves, we are starting to see the same form he showed prior to that horror injury.

was really good. I was thinking maybe him and Nunez might be subbed off after the first half but both put in great performances in that second half.

Yeah I know we’ve got more experienced players like Jota & Bobby coming back from injury that need minutes in their legs which is probably why Carvalho didn’t get 15-20 mins at the end there.

Not just the game vs United, but his stats were high up there in the game vs Wolves.

Just shows what patience does to a player who has talent and is learning the game and is working at it on the training pitch.
