Well, it's certainly something inconsequential to get angry about.
      Oh I don't know.

Yeah I was thinking that also

I reckon we should do a new column for PL assuming we land it. Space might be an issue tho....

          From the Athletic

Liverpool have appealed to the Premier League for the right to wear the FIFA world champions badge on their shirts in domestic matches.

Jurgen Klopp’s men received the prestigious gold symbol from football’s world governing body following Saturday’s hard-fought 1-0 victory over Flamengo in the Club World Cup final in Qatar.

However, Liverpool are currently only permitted to wear it in Champions League games — raising the prospect that it won’t adorn the centre of their jerseys until they face Atletico Madrid in the first leg of a last 16 tie on February 18.

The Premier League only allow charitable messaging to be added to shirts over the course of a season with rules stating that any proposed changes to kits have to be ratified by their board.

They have previously ruled against allowing additional badges and refused Manchester United permission to wear the FIFA symbol in league games after they won the Club World Cup in 2008. But The Athletic understands that Liverpool have asked the Premier League to reconsider that stance.

Anfield officials believe having become world champions for the first time in club history, the achievement should be celebrated on Liverpool’s shirts no matter what competition they are competing in.

Liverpool will point to the fact that an English team lifting the trophy for only the second time since the Club World Cup was revamped in 2000 should be a source of great pride for the Premier League. They will also highlight that Real Madrid were granted permission to wear the badge in La Liga games after their hat-trick of Club World Cup triumphs from 2016 to 2018.

Liverpool will have to submit a separate formal application to the Football Association in order to have the FIFA emblem on their shirts for their third-round FA Cup match against Everton on January 5.

FIFA rules state the badge, first introduced in 2007, “may only be used on the current official team playing shirts” and “may not be used on previous or historical versions of the team shirts, training jerseys, tracksuits, training tops or any other products”.

Under FIFA guidelines, Liverpool can wear it from the day they became world champions to the day of the 2020 Club World Cup final, which is due to take place next December.

In the build-up to the trip to Qatar, midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum spoke about how the badge was a source of motivation for the players. “When I speak about the tournament with family and friends, they all speak about the badge,” he says. “That’s something you want. Every time you look at the shirt it reminds you that you won the World Cup for teams.”

Liverpool earned £4 million in prize money from their victory over Flamengo but that figure will be greatly enhanced by the commercial benefits of winning the competition.

They became the first English club to ever win the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup in the same calendar year, showcasing their remarkable resurgence under Klopp.

Liverpool’s new-found status as world champions is also timely with a bumper new kit deal with sportswear giant Nike starting in the summer of 2020, which will give them a much bigger presence in stores across Asia and South America in particular.

I don’t understand this at all.

Why only one game? What conceivable difference can it make?

TBH.....I always thought it was a CL thing anyway. Certainly never thought that Real wore it for every game in La Liga.
Probably only when they were playing Barca and their rivals.

In that spirit, I'm all for rolling it out for the Manchesters and Evertons of this world.

It should be on the shirts for CL matches imo & I really don’t care if it’s on our shirts for PL matches really.
