What, showing all the games under the existing contract? Yes, of course.

Charging extra via ppv, not so much.
    Oh I don't know.

surely its optional, and if no one can go to the game, seems reasonable as a compromise.

Bit hard on season ticket holders, unless they can get a disount code to cover it.

I took it to mean every game not otherwise televised, meaning every game did get shown live one way or another. Obviously the best picks would be gone, but it's an option!

And this is exactly where the tightrope of football finance hangs.

Who pays the bills? The fans via tickets that aren't refunded, the TV companies who are refunding the same fans, the sponsors who are getting nothing for their millions, or the government, or the players?
          Oh I don't know.

That tweet is quite old and from before the meeting that took place.

So speculation on how a speculative thing might happen. Which didn't.
                Oh I don't know.

I have been thinking that the way based on what I've been reading, the factors that offset this are the fact that the leagues and clubs will lose a lot of money if the season isn't finished. Also what is the point in abandoning this season in order to start next when we might not be able to start the season on time anyway? and more likely there could be a second wave which would affect next season and we would end up with 2 seasons abandoned.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Mid June return is a best case scenario

Very valid point. Without a vaccine it ain't going away.
Plus, viruses mutate so we really don't know what the **** is going to happen.

I hope I am wrong but I think that the idea that we can get next season and the Euros all sorted out on the current timescale could be rather naive.

At the moment they are suggesting that this season's CL final could take place at the end of August (so in next season). There is talk of next season having to start no later than the beginning of September. (max of 4 weeks late) which would push it right up to the start of the Euros. There seems to be no slack in that time line, obviously we hope that there won't be a second wave and all this goes ahead as planned but that is far from guarenteed. If something does happen and there are games postponed what happens then, cancel the Euros again, cancel next season too? I know you have to plan things but to me there are alot of unknowns and little flexibility in time lines.

You make some very good points.

I'd be very surprised if Euro 2020/1 takes place in it's current guise. Spreading the tournament around Europe as was initially planned is a laudable idea but in this new reality it's madness.

I can see it being moved to a single country. One which is able to host it at very short notice England, Germany or France. Wouldn't surprise me if discussions have already taken place regarding this.

That's if it goes ahead at all.

Nicola Sturgeon: Fans at football unlikely 'any time soon' - First Minister

Scottish football should not expect to be playing matches in front of fans "any time soon", says Nicola Sturgeon.

Scotland's First Minister said at her daily briefing she could not put a timescale on when the sport might resume.

No games have been played in Scotland since 13 March and the SPFL have since ended the lower-league seasons.

Ms Sturgeon also said the idea of playing behind closed doors needed to be "very carefully considered".

The body that represents Europe's top leagues says when football does return it will "no doubt" be played behind closed doors.

However, the First Minister said any moves to do so would still bring issues.

"We have to consider if that completely take away the risk," she said. "If a match is still TV, the danger is people will congregate together to watch.

"What I will say is they will be very carefully considered and we'll share as much of that as we can."

Ms Sturgeon also cautioned that "some sort of social distancing" would still be required once restrictions are lifted, which would have consequences for attendances.

That could last, she confirmed, until a vaccine becomes available, with the latest reports suggesting that could be the second half of next year.

"We want to get a semblance of normality back to people's lives but we cant risk a resurgence of this virus," she said.

"I know that is not good news for people who have sport as a really important part of their lives but it would be wrong for me to give false expectation about an early resumption of large-scale sporting events."
