Look, even if the season is cancelled we'll be crowned champions. The PL are too weak and know it'll damage the brand. The narrative of us being denied it will be too strong and they haven't got the bollocks for court battles. Every club is losing money, why cost a team more money by denying them the title and the trappings that come with it.

Such consequences don't exist in Belgium or Holland, piss ant leagues worth little money compared to the PL.

Police chiefs now wading in. Has a fair point about gatherings and how fans will need to be responsible in not congregating en mass. I do have concerns that if it restarts, we win our required two games, hundreds, maybe thousands will not be able to resist a celebration. It's almost inevitable.

So unlike the French just to give up

More seriously and a genuine question - why are the French lumped in so it is a big 5? The sucess of French teams in European competition has been minimal.

Exactly, their calibre of leagues have already called a halt (Holland, Belgium, etc). What I don't get is why are they focusing on other countries' FAs? So what if Germany want to continue but France don't?

PSG are still in the cl right?

Social events more than 5000 people are banned until September in France, so unless they play their games behind closed doors they won’t restart their season so PSG might have to forfeit their place; might be one the reasons they are lobbying for the above, if that report is correct?
                    Are we winning?

I heard on the radio that PSG have said that they are prepared to play their CL games abroad in order for them to go ahead.

I mean, if there are no competitive games as a result of their leagues not resuming, it won’t matter much to them.

I have said it before but I just don't understand the obsession with cancelling this season in order to start next. The French government have said nothing before start of September, that's 4 months away that date could easily be pushed back depending on what happens between now and then. Even assuming they can start on 1st Sept that's about 3 or 4 weeks later than the season would normally start, there are (supposedly) Euros next summer and there is the grim possibility of a second wave. The new season is going to have most of the same problems that this one does if not more. Cancel this season and there is a very real possibility of having to cancel next season as well, at least if this season is finished only one season (which hasn't started yet) is likely to be lost, the fallout from that is surely much easier to deal with than the inevitable legal challenges from cancelling a season that is 80% complete.

Unless I am missing something the only reasons for prioritising next season over this are the (arbitrary) dates by which the football calendar/year is arranged, and the issue over players contracts, both of which can IMO be fairly easily solved.

I could see the argument for cancelling the season if it were only one country that were affected then in order to bring them back into line with everyone else (for UEFA purposes) then I could see the sense in that. But more or less every country in Europe has been affected and will continue to be for probably similar amounts of time, it looks like the whole cycle for everyone will be shifted by the same amount.

I think that there should (have been) more joined up thinking with everyone in Europe trying to formulate a single plan that works for football as a whole rather than individual countries taking their own decisions about their respective leagues.

The fume already on social media after a lequipe journo just said it's been decided PSG are champions is glorious.
