I'm not sure I really get the basis on which the opposition to playing games at neutral grounds i being made. I appreciate that there is an advantage in playing at home under normal circumstances you have your own fans, you have better knowledge and control of the pitch conditions etc.

Playing behind closed doors at the original venue removes the fan and atmosphere elements, reducing home advantage, but while you lose this for your home games you gain in the away games by the opposition losing their home advantage. By playing at neutral grounds the same applies to the pitch elements mentioned.

The other thing I suppose is the balance of fixtures, teams could complain that relegation rivals had an advantage because they played certain fixtures before lockdown at home in front of their fans and their club doesn't have this opportunity. But that argument could be reversed again because they don't have to go to intimidating away grounds.

I appreciate that the solutions being proposed aren't ideal but it seems to me these clubs are just trying to place any obstacle they can in front of a restart because they want to avoid the threat of relegation by fair means or foul.

It's an incredible brass neck on those clubs. Willing to play the sporting integrity card vs public health/disorder when it comes to playing at home. ****ing disgusting.

People are talking about Liverpool winning the title being an issue for people gathering outside the ground, but look at others. Sides avoiding relegation, Sheffield Utd getting European football, Leicester getting CL football. All being their own problems and by not playing at home grounds is an attempt to reduce the chance of mass gatherings.

Those bottom six will be lobbying anyone they can to ruin the vote as they know it needs a 14 team majority to carry anything forward. Hope clubs like Brighton go down and stay down, Wimbledon style.

City could be problematic as they might be kingmakers looking for assurances on the outcomes of FA or PL investigations.

Said it before, it'll get like Eurovision with the votes.

To be fair I haven't seen anything from any of the club representatives saying anything on the club's position. Obviously we (the fans) want the season to be completed because we believe that we will go on to win the title. I would like to think that I were we not in the position that we are in I would still want to see the season finished even if Man City, Man Utd or whoever were in our position (obviously I can't say for sure for a range of hypothetical situations).

Obviously clubs are always going to look at things from their own point of view that is understandable, and I would hope that genuine concerns are addressed. But teams can't be allowed to manipulate the situations in order to cheat their fate that is inherently wrong.

Not wanting to defend the club in regards to the comment about the WSL made by ChesterDave but I would say that (IMO) there are differences between not continuing on safety grounds and not continuing because you deem neutral venues etc unfair, in what appears to be selfish club attitude. If LFC have genuine safety concerns over the WSL (and I don't know because I haven't read the article) I would hope that the if/when the league addresses them LFC support the continuation of the league.

Liverpool are not fighting attempts to resume the current Women's Super League season, Standard Sport understands.

Reports on Monday suggested that the Reds were among a number of clubs pushing for the campaign to be abandoned on the grounds that player safety would be endangered in the event of a resumption.

The FA have already taken that course of action with every league below the top two tiers of the women’s game - scrapping promotion and relegation in the process - but are attempting to find alternative solutions for the Championship and WSL.

A similar approach further up the pyramid would clearly benefit Liverpool, who sat rock bottom of the top division prior to all football being suspended.

Vicky Jepson’s side had picked up just six points from their 14 games thus far, leaving them a point adrift of 11th-placed Birmingham City.

However, it is understood that the Merseyside club are not leading calls for abandonment during ongoing talks over a potential restart.

Such a stance would, of course, run contrary to the Reds’ hopes that the men’s Premier League season might still resume in some format.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were just two wins away from ending a 30-year wait for a league title before the coronavirus pandemic halted the action.

And so club chiefs remain committed to finding solutions for a resumption on both fronts.

It has previously been reported that the WSL could be finished by virtue of a condensed schedule being played out at a neutral venue.
