You said ‘bollocks’
And ‘desperate’
When I tried to explain why. I take back one comment which was meant in jest but perhaps not received that way.
Anyway, let’s not fall out

I think the penalty decision is an example one of the failings of the VAR system. The decision was one that was referred to VAR but as the ball stayed in play there wasn't a wait for a decision. For me that was a classic not enough evidence to overturn call, presumably the ref doesn't give it because there is a touch on the ball, the only way that VAR overturns it is if there isn't a touch on the ball. For me that is one where the VAR official should tell the referee that he should look at the pitch side monitor, but that has happened maybe twice this season. I can see why the evidence to overturn is there but it makes a mockery of the game in terms of consistency of decisions.
The reason that Man Utd get more pens than us is probably because of this, the referees award them soft pens which VAR can't overturn (as there isn't enough evidence to do so) where as we hardly get any because there is a higher bar for us, and again there isn't enough evidence on VAR for the no call to be overturned.Last edited by Exiled_red; 12-07-20, 08:14 AM.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Tim Sherwood said (yes, I know) that he would have kicked the ball out of play and made a song and dance about it so that the VAR decision could be made straight away and more likely to be given. I'm not sure I entirely agree with him but he has a point. The longer the game goes on, the less likely it is to be pulled back, especially if its against the refs judgement.Originally posted by Exiled_red View PostI think the penalty decision is an example one of the failings of the VAR system.
