The only pot 1 team I wouldn't want is Bayern Munich

It’s not really about 1st or 2nd though. It’s about how in the face of the ‘worst defending champions’ shouts, there’s 4 teams in the last 10 years alone who have had worse title defences than us.

I get that but it gets on my norbs when a definitive statement is made followed by 'bar this' which clearly falsifies the first statement.

You could say all kinds of **** like "I am the most intelligent person in the world bar the millions of those more intelligent than me".

Top 4 all go straight to the group stages. 4th place hasn't had to play a qualifier since 2017/18.

Can't remember the last time 3rd place needed a qualifier. Probably 20 years ago, when it was still 3 teams instead of 4.

He wasn’t saying it to celebrate the achievement of finishing in the top 4... he was defending us from the criticism of being the worst champions ever etc... so I don’t see any harm in saying the only team bar city... if he had said us and city are the only teams, would it still “get on your norbs”?!
