These referees are professionals now. Apparently.

So these cunts should have to give explanations after the game.

I'd love to see whoever head of the referees group is to come out and explain how that was a peno today..... But the pickford assault on Virgil wasn't even a ****in foul

It wasn't a "****in" foul / penalty because it was offside.

But it was dangerous play, which should have been a red card.
        Oh I don't know.

I hate what it's become. I was in favour of VAR and thought it worked well in that World Cup. We couldn't have envisaged what it would become but clearly I was wrong to be in favour. It's completely ruining the game.
I'm so happy to have mountain biking as a hobby. I've threatened to walk away from the game a few times but it really does seem like a sterile game now and it's hard to feel passionate about games like this.

Maybe the breakaway league that's spoken about could include more tolerance for non violent contact. In which case I'm all for it!

I worry that I'm faking outrage because I'm disappointed we're not cruising the league again.

The only thing VAR should be anywhere near is offside (when they improve the line tech). And even then the offside rule should be changed to avoid a toe length being offside.

Everything else is human interpretation and should be left to the refs to **** it up nstead.

I have similar feelings - I was livid post game yesterday for about an hour. Then I told myself to cop on as I’m too old to be letting football ruin my weekend. I wondered if it was out of petulance because we were the victims of incompetence or horrible luck. I still bring it all back to the Everton game

With all the crap going on in the world, football is one of the few things that should bring a sense of normality but it doesn’t feel the same. I celebrated both goals yesterday only for them to be ruled. Even though they were correctly ruled out it takes some of the joy out of it.

It feels hard right now - everything is seemingly going against us yet we are still right in it. It’s been a long time since we’ve had to watch a team “struggle” so this is where true supporters get behind the team. It’s why I am not so hard on the players - they are doing their best while being patched together, played out of position and run into the ground.

Ultimately it’s just a game and there are more important things than football. Like most of us, I was annoyed yesterday and had to shake the disappointment off. I had a bit of a spat with Venton in the match day thread and I do apologise if he reads this.
                Are we winning?

Definitely. And, we get to witness more success than most fans. So spitting the dummy when we get a few things going against us is a bad look.

It was a tough game yesterday, a few of the decisions were hard to take.

We need to soak it up. And move on.

                  Like Champions.

The bigger point about VAR ruining football is totally valid though. It’s not being used in the correct way at all.

Its still got a long way to go before its at the levels of FA disciplinary panels though

I think that they might be trying to get it there though
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

If this is the best if the rest on show today, I don't think we've much to worry about.

Still us and City for me. Well, us, City and VAR.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Yep. On any normal season we should be expecting to stroll this, City are still the smbiggest threat.

Always going to be just a two horse race.

Considering the bad luck we've had with VAR, injuries and covid, it's been a very good start to be joint top with 3 of our hardest away games out of the way already. Our fixtures have been tougher than anybody's.

With a bit luck with injuries and decisions, I can see us pulling away at the top over the next couple of months, with only City on our tails.

All the other challengers (pretenders) will just fall away and continue to beat and draw with each other.

Was saying exactly this yesterday with half an eye on the game.........only way the likes of Spurs or Chelsea can win the title is if we run out of players and City have a brainfart.

There is still a measurable gap.

                                On VAR:
It's never going to work as it is. It's pedantic, clinical and still - after all they've said about the technology - open to interpretation from a ref in a dark room miles away from the action. Every decision is judged on absolute slo-mo and on the nuances of fractions of a second. It's utter ****e. It should be 'clear and obvious only'. **** everything else.
Goal line technology works as it's black and white. No messing about, it's a definitive goal or no goal. Until VAR can be as accurate as that, it's a flawed system due to the quality of the refs in Stockley Park. We need to celebrate a goal instantaneously or similarly know within a millisecond if its' disallowed, same as goal line technology. If we can't get to that position because the decisions remain interpretative, then it should be scrapped completely. It's the same as with no VAR in that case and it's all about opions, which is exactly what it's not supposed to be. It's supposed to be about accuracy and consistency. It's a ****ing joke and is killing the game completely. Said it at the start of last season and if anything, it's getting worse. Ref's don't even know the rules of the game e.g VVD's injury was after the whistle but reckless and Pickford should have got a red.
