A 10 game winning streak would have almost ended this title race.........we've **** ourselves in a period of quite winnable games.

Mane was excellent apart from putting the ball in the net. Bobby and Salah were anonymous mostly. We certainly look short of goals from anywhere else, especially from outside the area. It will almost be a relief to play against Utd who will be confident enough to attack us and leave some space in behind.

Attack us.......have you seen them play vs a top 4 side. 5 at the back - McT and Matic in front and two fast lads up front to chase to the corners from long balls. I am more worried because we aren’t scoring and are giving up chancesOriginally posted by greenturnip View PostMane was excellent apart from putting the ball in the net. this. They will sit deep and counter. It is the only way Ole knows how to play but with the pace they have and with Bruno being on fire, it has been a very effective way to play this season.
We look blunt, lethargic and devoid of ideas. We are so predictable going forward, teams have learned to pack the box when Robbo and Trent get the ball and they are outain outlets. United will do exactly that.

absolutely, we are far too predictable at the moment

Far too early for full on doom and gloom. Plenty of time to play our way into form. We are Mia firing, but we weren’t a million miles away tonight. Was a proper siege at times.Modifying post.

I would have prefered it if we fired some shots rather than just waiting for them to surrender thoughOriginally posted by Buzzo View Post

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I said it before, but we look knackered...the same core players have been playing every game. Salah and Mane need a rest, but without Jota there is no backup...unless we want to trust Origi. Robbo and Trent need a rest, but Milner and Tsimikas have been out. Even in midfield we've been bereft or interchanges, with Hendo and Gini playing every minute.
A week off now, hopefully some players back soon and maybe a CB on loan/signed. Still in this race, we've done better than we expected with the defensive injuries we have had, so we're in the mix still.

Football is definitely ****ing weird. Last season we won so many games but i didn't think we played particularly well in many of them. Having watched us for over 30 years, I've seen us play much better, but we were machine like, often just doing enough, rarely putting teams away. Hey first title in 30 years, I'll take it in spades, but Imo our attacking play was much worse from open play than the season before. Especially the way the front 3 linked. Not very fluid in attacks. I mean you win a title, drop only 2 points at home and Firmino hasn't managed a goal in front of the kop. That is plain strange. But it didn't matter The! The big difference is we were managing to scrape tight games and come out the right side. This season that hasn't happened but the front 3 have continued that lack of ideas in open play to the next level. They are 3 individuals, all capable of a goal out of nothing but lack cohesion and the clinical instinct.
They've played an awful lot of games and it's either tiredness, lack of focus or lack of relationship between at least 2 of them. They've become predictable and pretty easy to nullify.
I don't think they will click again. We won at Palace easily by not starting all 3 together. When Jota played he held the ball better, beat players, linked up with his team mates oh and scored goals. I'd drop Salah and let him sulk. He offers next to nothing when his head isn't right. The other 2 at least put a shift in.
We need to regroup, get a signing or two in to lift the place like Fergie used to do most January's. Usually a goal scorer. Then see if we can't get some results going. Utd strangely could be a good game for us. We'll be 3 points behind so a win is vital.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

Not many teams do that, especially to a side like Southampton who are really good. Shame we're not having consistency in games at the moment and it's not happening for our front 3.
