It’s an emergency so we have to shelve long term plans for 6 months. The danger, is we miss out on top 4. The cost implications with that are serious.

We can’t be relying on Hendo doing a job for 19 games.

I thought it was mad he was going to play at CB at all, but to have him no as a crucial defender... it’s mental to risk it all when we could loan in one or two without destroying the club financially.

We cannot expect Henderson to play every game and certainly not as our most experienced CB. Crazy for a club of our standing to even consider it - there’s now 10s or 100s of players that could do a job for us until summer

I completely understand and I don't disagree, but there's a great chance we don't sign anyone. I'd rather we talk about how great we were today than talking about a situation we have zero control over. It's really tedious.

I don't think anyone is screaming for a top class centre-back to be signed for big money right now. Most fans know it's hard in this window.

We do however need to get in somebody better than our young, inexperienced defenders, even if it's on loan - this is an absolute necessity and it's been the case since October.

There must be decent defenders out there we can pick on loan to help get us through the rest of the season surely

They signed Laporte the previous January window after Kompany got injured and because their other Centre backs were in ropey form.

How about we try Becker at centre back and stick the Irish lad between the sticks. Seems confident on the ball, decent with his head and is a big ****er.
