From now on we need to play players in their proper positions including two CBs in defence, be that Kabak and Davies or Kabak and Phillips or whatever. We might have to accept that there will be misunderstandings in defence probably leading to goals, but we would hopefully have Henderson and/or Fabinho in midfield helping out when needed and improving the midfield and hopefully attacking game which will get us more points that the system with players out of position. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

You are as far on the side of negativity as your opinion of anyone the lack of realism of anyone putting forth a positive case. There is so much extrapolation here. So now Klopp is leaving and our squad is getting pulled to pieces. There is no evidence for this.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostIF Klopp stays in such circumstances (I have my doubts) and IF we have the same team (also doubt) and IF we don't have Europa League then we'll have finished mid table, we'll walk the league from there? Seems like nothing but wishful thinking.
More likely is we lose players we want to keep and try and rebuild on a sell to buy budget, with difficulty attracting replacements. Nobody can afford a disastrous season and expect to stay at the top. I'd even say it's more likely we'd be doing that under a new manager. If we finish mid table this season, we're more likely to be back to where we were before Klopp came in than to a title win.
I’m not feeling great about football either but this is too much.
There are plenty of games for us to turn this round and today’s performance was decent. The problem is the same as it has been for months. Not having established cover in central defence.Modifying post.

Just been looking at this, now we all know that we have a poor record with VAR this season so it's no surprise that we are bottom of the overall table but the stay that I find most remarkable is the net goals stat. This is counting the goals disallowed and given for and against you (a goal given to you that the ref would otherwise not allowed to stand, or a goal against you disallowed by VAR counts as +1, whereas decisions against you, disallowing you goal or allowing the opposition a goal count as -1).
The majority of teams have a VAR net goal count of +1, 0 or - 1. The exceptions to this are Everton and Sheff Utd both +3, West Ham and Chelsea both +2, West Brom - 2 and Liverpool - 8,seriously WTF that is quite remarkable and is a massive statistical outlier. We also unsurprisingly have had the most goals that we have scored ruled out by VAR which is 6, there have only been 25 across the whole league so that accounts for 24% of the total
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

If people choose to believe that football and officiating is not biased/corrupt then you are ****ing deluded.Originally posted by Exiled_red View Posthttps://www.espn.com/soccer/english-...lub-in-2020-21

That's just all decisions, that have been changed by VAR intervention. I'm not saying that the system is biased just we appear to be a statistical anomalyOriginally posted by Norbs View PostIs that saying ruled out unfairly or just ruled out after a VAR intervention as there's a big difference. Perhaps our movement and play means we are more accurately timing our runs leading to closer calls
It's possible that we play that much more on the edge than other sides and that it is down to our style of play, it is also possible that the match officials are more likely to award us goals in real time than other sides, or that the VAR officials are looking somewhat more harshly at our decisions when they review them, or it could just be that we are unlucky.
Just from a statistical point of view it is remarkable, if the disallowed goals were distributed evenly across the 20 teams they would each account for 5%, while this is not realistic, teams that have more attacking player are much more likely to have more goals disallowed than teams who have less, so you would expect things to scale roughly with the amount of attacking play, but sides like Man City and Man Utd (who with us make up the top 3 attacking side in terms of shots) don't come close to our number of disallowed goals. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

To be fair that he is replying to a post on the far side of positive & it is what can happen to a winning side when they stop winning. I don't think it is out of the realms to suggest players might want to go elsewhere to win things if they see us losing momentum. Not qualifying for the champs league is an absolute disaster, top players want to play in top competitions, there is no way our top lads will want to be playing Europa or not playing in Europe at all. Also FSG are fairly tight with our budgets at the best of times nevermind missing out on the biggest club comp in the world. Liverpool being outside of that makes us venerable to losing our best and also attracting the best. You may see it as a negative post and your are correct but he isn't wrong in what he's saying unfortunatelyLast edited by danperkins; 18-02-21, 12:06 PM.

The conversation was about what happens following a mid table finish and the idea that we can then blitz the league from there next season. Whether we can turn this season around isn't relevant to that.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostYou are as far on the side of negativity as your opinion of anyone the lack of realism of anyone putting forth a positive case. **** knows, this was all posted in the aftermath of the game where we were all pissed off after what was for 75 mins a really good performance! I'm still positive we will get top 4, and that the empire is not crumbling.
There should be a embargo on dredging up post match posts a certain point in time after the match!Modifying post.

I avoid reading them because they are just so negative. I feel bad enough already with having to wallow.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostThere should be a embargo on dredging up post match posts a certain point in time after the match!
I think it is right to think that Leicester was pretty good for 75 minutes, although we should not pat ourselves too much on the back because (a) Vardy got a free header and two other chances and (b) apart from the lovely goal, we did not make the keeper work enough. So, even if the game had ended at that point we would have work to do and I think that is mainly about strengthening in central defence (which is about both new boys getting used to us and about playing two specialist defenders rather than a midfield player) and midfield (Henderson and Fabinho in, Naby too maybe, Thiago out for the time being (and Milner out anyway)).
But we need also to work out whether the last 15 minutes were really just a complete freak, because I thought the last 15 or so minutes of Tuesday's game were a bit worrying too. I think this is more about tiredness, having fresh players of the right sort to bring on, and being able to rest players from the starting line up occasionally. This will not be solved overnight and will not be solved at all if we continue with the current level of injuries, but I have hope in my heart.

I think that injuries and fitness are definitely a part of it I worry about the guys that have played alot of football (Robertson, TAA, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Salah, Mane and Firmino) not just in a condensed season this year, but also over the last few years, it must take it's toll at some point and you worry about those guys picking up injuries. The most disappointing thing in regards the fitness aspect for me though is that at least a couple of those games we have made changes (usually in midfield) not long before the collapse or at less poor period and you worry that the guys coming in either aren't getting up to the speed of the game, or aren't good enough.Originally posted by Paul12 View PostI avoid reading them because they are just so negative. The other thing that I worry about is the mental side of things, for the last couple of years we have had this belief that we can keep a clean sheet and that we can score goals, last year even when we went behind in the second half of games the team believed that they could come back and win and often they did. This year we don't have the same confidence in the defence and we don't have the same ability to score goals, so conceding a goal 70 mins in and going 1-0 or 2-1 down we don't have the same belief that we can win or even just draw the game. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
