Massive opportunity for Timmy to stake a real claim. He'll get a nice run of games to get back match sharpness and really prove his worth.

The stat I quoted of him never playing more than 2 matches in a row is unbelievable considering how long he’s been with us. Shows that we’ve played Robbo to death

Tsimikas has never started more than two Premier League games in a row but if Robertson is out for a month, for example, he will be needed for four league games in succession.
Luke Chambers is available if needed too.

He played well last, and in Ogbene he was up against a hard working tricky player.

Good bit of match fitness and sharpness for him before our game.

    He played the full 90

The opener for Gus Poyet's men was an excellent goal but it began with good fortune as Liverpool left-back Kostas Tsimikas bundled his way past Chiedozie Ogbene, the Republic's best player on the night, down the left hand side.

However, once he was past the Luton Town attacker it was quality from there on, with Tsimikas delivering an outstanding, dipping cross that Giakoumakis rose well to meet with a bullet header that flew into the top corner, giving Bazunu no chance.
