    Rhys Williams

Very encouraging performance. Looks to have confidence and is good on the ball. He will have tougher games for sure, but he’s done what is asked of him so far.

Looks like we are probably going to see a fair him as there is no way Gomez and Matip are both staying fit until January.

Its almost like there's less pressure on him this season too as we're (players, Klopp) not as intense for some reason and we were doing pretty crap with VvD and Gomez anyway. So he can make some (hopefully unpunished) mistakes and make that position relatively his until January when we sign Upamecano or Kabak. Or Lovren.
    One tit for another.

Wasn't really tested but looked assured in possession. Hopefully he won't need to play much but can step in effectively when required.

He put in a good performance, but as mentioned he wasn't really tested, obviously we don't want injuries but today was the ideal game for him to come into. He looks promising but the fact that he has seemingly come from nowhere it a bit of a concern, he wasn't really considered in pre-season there were other youngsters ahead of him then. I guess the question of how much confidence Klopp has in him will come when it comes to PL games (especially the big games) and whether he played him then or plays a senior player out of position.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

If we go to City with only Gomez fit, I'm sure Klopp will play Gini or Hendo as a CB rather than throwing Williams into the lion's den. I hope so anyway.

But it will be interesting to see what happens if that situation arises for the West Ham game, as that is one that you feel could go either way...

Seems to have impressed and already ahead of Nate Phillips and Van Der Berg.

Wouldn’t want him anywhere near City though

I literally read that as 'Ilori's den' rather than lion and was thinking that's harsh on a 19 year old to already compare him to Ilori.

i thought that he was very good last night. His passing was assured.

I know that the Virgil injury is horrific and a huge blow to LFC. But we might come out the other side of it even stronger. Gomez could improve as a result of having to step up as the senior defender. Trent and Robbo could also step up and become leaders. Similarly the likes of Williams and others will likely get more opportunities and improve.

And when VVD comes back, then we will be unstoppable!!!

I think that the big test for young defenders in particular is when they get a run of games because the opposition are expecting them to play and can do their research in terms of how best to 'get at' them. There will inevitably be a period where they make mistakes or show a potential weakness or two in their game that opposition players will try to exploit, the big challenge is how you deal with that. Rhys hasn't had to deal with that yet, but it could be heading his way soon if Fabinho is out for a while and we are waiting for Matip to be fit.

Anyone know what's happened to Koumetio? it looked like he was ahead of Williams in pre-season.

Think he's injured, based on a comment from Klopp.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Let's look at this the other way round chaps... compared to Maguire and Lindelof... we could play Adrian as CB alongside the Cube... and they'd still be a more effective pairing.

Sounds like he'll fit in well then
