We had something like 80% of possession but we lacked the killer passes to unlock a packed defence. When we did we found a keeper & a CB playing the games of their ( short ) lives. Once Thiago & Shaq helped to unlock their defence with sublime skills it was all over. I know it was only Villa kids but the difference in guile and craft when Thiago and Shaq came on was glaring. Guys that see and pick passes that nobody else in our squad can. Not percentage passes, passes that make the difference, passes that open teams up and find gaps in tightly packed defensive lines. Get and keep Thiago and Shaq fit and they are a differential in breaking down stubborn sides & dropping points. Having workers are grafters is great, that has to be a balance and we've been lacking craft in the midfield for years.Comment
