Great win. What a difference it makes having Trent playing well.

Good point, they’re on a great run. Phillips to keep his spot.James Philip Milner Fanclub #1

I fancied us pre game but shat the bed with Fab out - well deserved win and many great performances. Fab and Matip with muscle injuries = a min of 2/3 weeks out. Hendo and Phillips for a few games which is nuts.Originally posted by Fredo View PostHow was that lads. A champions performance with a makeshift backline. If we play like that and play on the front foot, we're gonna take some stopping.
Phillips did ok but he is ****ing wild - like a giddy horse bucking around a pitch. I wondered did Thiago ever play with a less technical player
Delighted to have won but I still maintain we need an actual CB even on loan - we are beyond stretched there

Fab won't make the hammers game, neither will Matip. Was having this conversation yesterday or day before on the Klopp thread saying Fab is bound to get injured or will need rest and sure enough. Utterly bizarre decision to not get another CB in this season, there is no excuse.
Killed Spurs today, clinical, movement and passing so much better, we just looked on it tonight. Hope we can take this into the West ham game.

Nice win but let's not get carried away. Spurs were quite poor tbf and we punished them for allowing the front 3 too much space. Also a bit fortunate with the goals. Their keeper should have done better with the first two and their defender made a mistake for the 3rd.
As long as the opposition play a bit more attacking then we've always got goals in us but we still need to find a way of breaking down team that park the bus.
Still...a 3-1 win against a potential top 4 rival will no doubt help confidence levels.
Fingers crossed on Fab and Matip injuries!

We're going to sign one, or maybe two, but not in this window. It would have to be a fantastic centre back to slot in that team right now. Just not gonna happen. Are we winning?

Hopefully it was just a confidence issue, Bobby and Mane scored, Salah had one disallowed, Trent looked back to his old self, good performances from Gini who was getting a bit of stick in the buildup. OK Spurs style of play and some poor defending on their part may have helped but hopefully this will be the turning point in our recent **** run of form and we can string a good run of wins together in the coming games as the next few weeks has some more massive games.
Obvious downside is that the injuries keep coming and we will likely have a CB partnership of Henderson and Phillips/Williams at the weekend. We really need to sign a CB in this window as we are running out of options fast. Just need the midfield and forward lads to play like they did tonight and we can maybe take some of the pressure off our makeshift defence. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
