This has been pissing me off for a while but it has become more an more evident in recent weeks, and really ****ed me off tonight, but why do we sling so many high balls into the box? Mane is decent in the air for his height and Bobby gets the odd header but our forwards and midfielders at the best of times offer little threat in the air. When everyone is fit VVD and Gomez/Matip offer some threat from set pieces, but at the moment all we have is Phillips, if we are putting balls in the box why not low ones that our forwards have a chance of getting on the end of, with no height even at set pieces why not work on short corner routines or something. Every high ball into the box might as well be gift wrapped as it's a present for opposition defences.

My head is banging, could do without this tbh as I'm stressed to **** as it is.

I'll probably give Sunday's game a miss. Even if we do win which is unlikely, we're still not going to win the league and will probably struggle for a CL place. I think I'll take myself off for a walk and get some fresh air instead of getting stressed out watching us, it's horrible at the moment.

Can I just say to everyone, don’t beat yourself up about it. This isn’t a quality issue. The focus has just gone for now. You need to be clinical on the pitch but also in the head. Most of us excepted a win today, so did the team but they forgot about the nittty gritty involved in playing team like this . It was a lesson doubled down after Burnley.

I get that if we have teams pinned back they head the ball clear and it comes back to us to recycle, but we need to be creating chances and we aren't. Even when those balls come back to our players we have no space to play through them, we don't take shots from the edge of the box and we don't have the spark to create anything consistently. We just launch more high balls into the box and repeat.

We’ve entered a new hodgson era

We're in our worst for for 5 years and still 4th in the league. We're a million miles better than the most silver lined cloud of the Hodgson era.

There was a brief moment late on when Henderson popped up into midfield and started to zip it about and we looked lively. We need him back in there asap. Him, VVD, Firmino are the ones who set the tempo. Out of position, injured, off form and the whole thing falls down.

It's frustrating for sure. Doesn't help that the delivery from Trent and Robbie has been abysmal this season. Origi has 7/35 headed goals since joining us so that's probably an indication of where his strengths are. He doesn't really offer anything other than maybe holding the ball up better than others. We need a) someone better able to anticipate crossed coming in and b) better and probably earlier crosses from out wide.

Lacking a bit of street-wise too. So many times they'll come in and nick the ball with our back to goal. Position yourself in front of the ball, shield it and if they come through you, let the ref know you've been fouled.

Our system relies on a massive press. Having a settled, world-class centre back pairing allows us to recycle the ball up to the front players over and over again, keeping up the press on the opposition, tiring them physically and mentally, giving us more chance to score. Keeping their strikers in our pocket destroys them over the course of the game, forcing them more and more on the back foot and tiring them out.

You're right about us being tired and lacking drive. Third season syndrome all over.
