I'm not really surprised, I mentioned in the other thread that I thought the recent injury might have damaged his chances, if he had played (and played well) up to the end of the season I think we might have made it permanent, as it was he was decent enough, didn't have the chance to improve much because of the games he missed and the injury just raises more questions.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I couldn't think of one attribute he excelled at. What was he great at?

I know he was young and fairly cheap, but I'm not surprised we're looking elsewhere.

i think we are playing the long game with him 04 need to sell him & if he digs his heels a=in about destination, we may get him cheaper than the release clause?

That said with RB sniffing around, he may fancy that in anycase

I don't think he was even first choice in January, I wouldn't be surprised if he was always regarded as a fall back option in this window if we couldn't get other targets.

Can't see him 'digging in' for a move here at his age to be our 4th choice CB at best...
            Hello mert.

Kabak was too slow, we've enough of those as back up now.

Positionally, in the air, composure, passing. Strong tackler too.
20 years old when we loaned him, he’ll only get better.

Can only think that Konate is the only CB we’re bringing in, or the injury has scared us off. Or, hopefully there’s an alternative we prefer.

£18m is a snip for him though and it says something that 2 other clubs who are excellent at recruitment, Leicester and Leipzig, are interested in him.

I don't think £18M is going to be a snip for him at the moment, there's going to be a massive whole in our revenue for this season and we'll have to be smart with transfers, both in and out.

Yeah I'd say he's decent at all those, but stands out at none of them.

If I had to summarise him in one word it would be decent .

I can only assume the coaching staff have decided he doesn't quite have what it takes to make it at the very top level or we'd easily have stumped up the cash.

Whoever gets him won't be paying 18 mil

If not for us then for whoever gets him.

I imagine that if we couldn't push the Konate deal thru, then Kabak was the fall back plan, but now it seems Konate is in the bag then Kabak is no longer required.

                                Gomez
Matip (if a good offer comes in, I think we will take it)
                                Konate
                                with Billy/Rhys/Nat as understudies.
