Though I’m not sure Kabak would as low as 5th choice, unless Gomez turns out to be extremely fortunate with his recovery and Matip can remain fit.

Ahh he would well and truly be the 5th choice CB. I rate Kabak highly same as you do, but he is well behind VVD, Gomez, Matp and Konate.

His chances of play time increasing if Gomez, Matip or any of the other two are injured/not ready would not change his standing as a 5th choice CB in my eyes.

I do however think that Kabak has the talent, especially for such a young player whose ability for his age often gets forgotten in discussions about him, to be up the rankings within a season or two and still be a very young player after that time.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

He’s only behind them when they’re fit, and that’s the issue.

If Gomez and Matip for example, weren’t fit or available, then Kabak or whoever is behind them move up the pecking order. He’d effectively be 3rd choice. Hypothetical but a real possibility given their histories.

It’s a long road back for Gomez, we don’t know if we’re getting the same player back, even when he is available.

I don’t see you policing the Nathaniel Clyne, Kev Stewart or Mark Gonzalez threads

How do we know that Klopp wouldn’t gladly have him but funds are too tight and he has to prioritise other positions?
Surely if that was the case, we wouldn't go out and spend 4 times the amount on an unknown quantity as an alternative? Makes no sense.

I'd have no problem if we'd signed Kabak, but signing him after Konate would have me worried about our current players. I'm seeing it as a positive that we don't have space for another CB.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

How does it not make sense? Yes we spent £35m on Konate (which is great), but now it appears we need to generate funds from sales to spend anymore. Or whatever else we do have to spend is so tightly earmarked for use elsewhere that we have no wriggle room to take advantage of other deals.

If all’s well with Matip and Gomez remaining fit and available for most of next season to fill in and back up Virgil and Konate when needed, then great no problem. But who’s genuinely confident of that?

Right, I’m boring myself now. Hopefully it all makes sense by the end of the window.

We've got 6 CB's now, and the good thing about last year is that Williams and Phillips have had some game time to gain experience; Virg, Matip, Gomez, Konate, Phillips, Williams and Davies. I can't see us going in the market this year to sign one, the focus would and should be to cover in the attacking third as Mane and Mo are off for a few weeks to AFCON, so we need cover there.
                Are we winning?

Because you are saying that Klopp would gladly have him, but money is too tight. Clearly the money was there to sign him, but we used it elsewhere. If you are saying we need two CB's but can't afford it, why not sign the cheap one Klopp would 'gladly have' and another one (or three) with the money saved?

As I said, doesn't make sense.

If we keep phillips and williams we can then send davies out on loan.

Im sure we will get a midfielder (or keep grujic, but unlikely) and an attacker.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Is that what I actually said? No, I said that not signing him doesn’t clearly mean we wouldn’t have taken him, especially at a cut price.

The money was there to sign Konate, and we did because he was the top choice.

Does that mean Klopp wouldn’t want to sign anyone else if it became possible?

Doesn’t make sense to you, that’s fine.

Is that a quadruple negative or just a triple?

It's neither. Though it would've been clearer if I'd said not signing him doesn't clearly mean that we didn't want him.

I won’t hear a word said about those legends

                              Kev was sacrificed for Robbo.

                              Clyne stepped aside for Trent.

                              And Gonzalez… Gonzalez… he… well… he had funky hair?
