For many a year their support would say we have not caught up with their current team of the day until we had a league title or CL in the bag, so the same applies to them now imo.

Straw man arguments?

You responded to a poster who used solid facts to show that we are in a good position, by saying 'that's in the past, look to the future'.

Ignoring the fact that it isn't in the past, it's current, your 'argument' is that your version of the future is what people should be worried about. That is a great argument and hard to disagree with, **** the facts.

The current is ever changing. The current on June 1st was more positive than August 31st because there's almost no transfer window left and no signs of investment. The current at Christmas may be different again depending on results. So realistically, look at the past all you want but the future is always something to plan for and concern yourself with.

You can't show we're in a good position because we won titles in 2019 and 2020. It's 2021 now, an aging squad with little investment over the last 5 windows.

If you want to look positively at the lack of player investment and aging squad, good for you. I'll view it as a lack of ambition or poor planning.

Honestly don't know why some people are so desperate to defend the total lack of ambition from FSG. If Bobby is out for 2-3 months as rumoured, gonna be fun watching Origi and Ox fill in when Jota isn't on the pitch.

What if FSG were ambitious enough to sell us to some dirty fossil fuel cunts and we bought all the best players?

I personally prefer our method of unearthing quality truffles from the dirt than paying 10x the amount from a restaurant. The resulting joy is worth 10x that of the restaurant ones.

Yeah there’s times when I wish we could buy this player or that player & not have to worry about the consequences to future spending if they bombed badly but as you say I prefer our model & Klopp doesn’t seem fazed either.

I suppose when you spend like they have at some point you will get it right. For me after what they have spent this season they need to win the league or champs league or else it is a failure.

It's frustrating to watch from the sidelines. I know we got Konate but another cm and attacker imo was a given for us this window. I absolutely get the defensive reaction in the United thread, the tribal relationship between the two clubs is real.
