    League Cup - Preston away

    7:45pm, live on the telly.

Should be fun this. Good little local trip, should be lively. Never been to Deepdale before but I'm off to this one.

    Something like:

Kelleher (not on the bench yesterday though?)

    Neco
    Gomez
    Konate
    Tsimikas

    Tyler Morton (?)
    Oxlade-Chamberlain
    Jones

    Minamino
    Origi
    Gordon

    ?
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Oof, I hope we’re not playing Jones or Ox now they’re 2 of the 3 currently fit first team midfielders.

Kids in midfield and use it to get minutes in the legs for the others.

Apart from that the League Cup can GTF after what happened in 19/20

Are there any promising midfielders we can use though? Morton was very good the last time out so I'd like to see him start, Jones and Ox probably have to play. Hendo, Fabinho and the one that survives this match can then start at the weekend
      * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

I'm not comfortable with us risking Ox and Jones who are 2 out of our 3 current fit midfielders in a meaningless game, I would rather play kids and go out than risk injuring players we will need in the PL in what is a meaningless game.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Don't really want to lose the current run of being undefeated across all competitions, even if I loath this cup.

I'd go reasonably strong and get it done.

He was ill yesterday. May be back for Preston. If not it's Adrian

Until we know the extent of Keita's knock, better to not risk any first team midfielders, so maybe try Neco in midfield with Bradley at RB, and put Minamino in there also, with Mane playing.

              Kelleher
              Bradley Konate Gomez Tsimikas
              Williams Morton Minamino
              Gordon Origi Mane

                Williams -Gomez-Konte-Tsimikas
                Bradley- Ox -Jones

Ox has to play to get some minutes in his legs.

If he gets injured, then it's proof that we are only delaying the inevitable and we can't rely on him anyway.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I'd have Nat Philips in there against a championship side and leave Konate out.

We are short of midfielders. Might we go three at the back (Konate, Gomex and Philips) so Neco and Kostas can be flying wingbacks and then use Ox and a young defensive midfielder, with Derek, Takumi and Kaide upfront?

Might work. Or play Gomez in midfield - or Kostas - and put a kid at left-back.

Konate might get one on Saturday against Brighton. Philips needs games too. If he doesn't play on Weds, he might as well have gone out on loan. Gomez should play on Weds, agreed.
