Brighton at Home PL game 10

It’s elite sport isn’t it? No team wins every game. Even great teams. It’s a marathon not a sprint. 10 games in. Unbeaten. 3 points off top spot. Not a bad start with room for improvement.

If Fab & 1 of Keita/Thiago can stay fit most of the season we have every chance.

I would go big in January for a Top Top Midfielder. Ox is shot, Jones is hit and miss.

The season we lost out to city we went without losing many games but its the draws that kill you.

4 draws out of 10, 3 at home isn't great and yes 2 we're Chelsea and City but they still need winning.

The midfield injuries are a massive issue but the defence being so easy to pass through is more of a concern. We concede too many chances and someone will hit 4 or 5 past us soon. Luckily this season the opposition haven't been as accurate as in previous campaigns.

I think 3rd for me especially with African cup in new year.

He has been in excellent form which probably masks over even more how easy you can get at our back 4.

The 3 points for a win means it's always more about the number of games you fail to win that the number that you lose as a draw is almost as costly as a defeat.

That said that stat is largely because teams winning the league in 3 out of the last 4 seasons have got 95+ points. Is that going to be what's needed this year? Maybe, if Chelsea continued their current form until the end of the season they'd finish on 95 points. Most seem to think they will drop that pace a bit, so I would guess the points total to win the league would probably be high 80's to 90. If you want to get to 90 points you need to win at least 26 games (W26 D12) or you could win 30 (and lose the rest). Essentially whichever way you look at it I think you are probably allowed about 10 slip ups (games you fail to win), we've had 4 so far , City also have 4, Chelsea have 2.

The last 5 years are hardly representative. We also drew 7 in 2018-2019 and lost the league by a point, so 6 draws would have done just fine in that season. Leicester drew 12 in 2015-16 and still won it.

Ultimately every title race is different, and we just need to make sure we get one point more than the rest, however we get there.

You know Chelsea will also draw games this season?

Brighton are a hugely improved team, they have an excellent manager, good players and one outstanding one in Bissouma.

They drew, it was well deserved, we go again and aim for qualification in the CL so we can rest for the final two.

Chelsea will have to play full strength to the last game as they only have two wins and they play Juventus at home and Zenit away.

I've never seen Klopp and his staff give so much advice and changes during a game, we didn't know how to handle them. Lots of arguing amongst players.

There was a period at 2-0 where Brighton camped in their own half and let us mess about with it and we seemed to lose focus and never get it back.

Season we won the league we had a ruthless way of seeing games out which we've lost, I reckon that team would have turned the 4 draws into at least 2-3 win.

Title race is wide open imo.

in 2 of the games, we had the lead twice and let it slip twice, in 1, we had a 2 goal lead that we let slip, and in the other one we were against 10 men for 45 min and couldn’t find a winner…

Need to get better at managing the game when we’re ahead. Our defense is t as solid as it was 2 years ago for sure, but for me, it’s the midfield that’s really letting us down. Mainly due to injuries, but just disappointing that the likes of ox etc can’t be called upon. Also, I think Jones is at the point in his career now where he should be judged by the same standards as the rest of the squad, and not as a young up and coming player.
Regardless of his age, it’s his third season in the first team squad now, so time to pull up his socks a bit.

Well considering we haven't lost a game yet, we're either winning or drawing.

I'd rather not taste defeat and build wins from there.
